| What you think guys and girls $150,000MSRP and they are being spiked up in price by 40% already before they are out. |
Maserati doesn't make a competitor to the Ford GT, at least not yet. Their only offerings are under $100k and are geared more equally between luxury and performance when compared to the GT. The GT is meant to compete in the same market as the Ferrari 360 Modena (Now F430) and Lamborghini Gallardo. Truth be told, though, the GT's performance numbers more closley match the much more expensive Enzo and Murcielago. |
| I watched a program on TLC? that had the developement of the Ford GT and they tested it against a ferrari (dont remember which) and were hoping to equal the times on laps and were actually flat killing the ferrari. This was with an engine 100hp under the production version. Sounds like a truly awesome car and a bargain for those who can afford one. |

www.lingenfelter.com/performance725turbols1corvette.asp VS. www.fordvehicles.com/fordgt/specs.asp Thats 175 more HP and 230 more lb ft of tourque for 50k less. Justin
Um no |
Linky no worky |
I don't know about that, the Lingenfelter site posts a 9.50 1/4, thats pretty damed fast. They also have a faster version they built for car and driver with 800hp and 830lbft Edited to add: the faster version does cost 150k though |
| I remember seeing a video link of a Lingefelter(sp?) vette being harrassed by a ricer of some sort saying they'd rip him out of the hole and the Vette flat stomped the hell out of him. Personally I'd be happy with any of the hi end performance cars but unfortunately as a county employee it's not very damned likely....there's always powerball though! |
I'm with Justin on this one. You'd lose that bet in about 9 seconds flat |
Try not to be so full of shit, your stinking it up. A Vette beating a McLaren? That will never, ever happen. The McLaren was the #1 top supercar in the world for a few years. Hell, the Vette cant even beat a Viper in shear performance. The only reason the Vette ranks so highly is because of its price. While slower then a Viper, its more managable and thus ranks higher due to not being such a chore to drive. I'd also think the GT could hang with the lower lines of Lingenfelters. The high ends run around 9's in the 1/4. The GT does it in around 11. Byt theres more to life then the 1/4. Ford GT Top Gear vid |
Look earlier in the thread. He's referring to the 750-800 HP Lingenfelter Vette. |
So am I. Only the high end Lingenfelters would run with the GT. The question is, for how long? Who knows. Tests I've seen show the GT getting to 150 a full 7 seconds or so faster then a Ferrari or Porsche. In fact, the articles say to accurately get a test car you'd have to go to a much higher level car, something like a Enzo or Saleen. Also, you cant compare apples to oranges. Gimme 30k and an old busted Mustang and I'll give you a car that'll run with the Lingenfelter all day long. And thatd a full 80,000 cheaper then a Lingerfelter. Compare stock to stock and built to built, any other way isnt a fair comparison. |

This is off topic, but it will only take about 10 seconds to watch. (Right click save as...) 604 hp Porsche vs. 900 hp Challenger www.altavelocita.com/video/Porsche_vs_charger.mpeg |
| A vette as nice as it is, is still a Vette. Sorry but the GT is some serious race history not just for Ford but for America as well. You guys need to do a little research of the GT-40's kicking european ass in Le Mans. It was especially nice when they slowed down for eachother at the end of the 24hours so they could cross the finish line 123 right next to eachother to show their dominance to the world. |
Right, I should have read your whole post. I stopped when I saw you comparing it to the Viper. I agree that the Lingenfelter is a tuner car and as such, should not be directly compared to OEM production cars. To achieve similar OEM performance numbers to the GT from you need to look at the top offerings from Germany and Italy: ~$450 Carerra GT ~$600k Enzo ~$250k Murcielago By that measure, the Ford GT is a relative bargain. |
Cool vid... Look at all the wannabe Darwinians standing on the curb. ![]()

BTW - That Top Gear vid is great. I've seen the same guy do a schpeal on the Murcielago. |

Here's a link to an MT comparison test between three of the greatest supercars ever produced: motortrend.com/roadtests/coupe/112_0410_lemansintro/index.html The GT is barely more than 1/3 the cost of the next-cheapest model; the Porsche Carrera GT! You don't even want to ask the price of the Enzo. |
+1 Ford GT40's won LeMans 4 years in a row 1966-1969, after the 1967 the French pussies saw that no one could compete with the 427 powered GT40's and changed the rules to a 5 liter displacement limit. Ford (specifically the Gulf racing team) said no problem and rolled the Mark I's back out (302 ci) and proceded to win it two more times in 68 and 69 with the same car no less. No other American manufacturer has won LeMans outright, Corvettes and Vipers have only have had class wins. |
That is no joke. I love the look of the car, but man, Fords suck. The ex wife has an expedition and a buddy has Mustang. The seams on both cars are wide and uneven. On a Thunderbird I was looking at when at the dealership had shitty paint with orange peel on the trunk and the same wide body seams. Now my Japanese car has nice and evenly fit body panels. That said, I actually liked the Expedition a lot. It was very comfortable to take on road trips and had no major problems but quite a few trips to the dealership for warranty repairs. I'd love to have the GT but I couldn't see spending more than 80-90k (like I'll ever have that much anyhow) when I could pick up a Viper for around that. |

Check C&D's website on this years supercar challenge. A TT Hennessy Viper came in first, Lingenfelter TT 428 Vette came in second. Makes for good reading. They couldn't get anyone who owns an Enzo or Murcielago to put their car up. They had to buy a Murcielago from a tunner to test. Neither Ferrari or Lamborghini would put a car in the competition. None of that really means shit until you prove your vehicle in One Lap of America. There are a few GTs for sale on DupontRegistry.com . But just like the Enzo, the price has almost doubled from the MSRP. |
