I'm thinking about buying a new digital camera. I'd love to get a digital SLR and see that the prices on some are dropping below a grand now. My question is this, I have quite a few nice SLR lenses for my Dad's old Canon A-1, are any of the Canon digital SLRs going to be able to use these? Will I need an adapter of any kind since they aren't autofocus, or will they attach to the body without an adapter? Anyone who has a Canon Digital SLR or not, your input is appreciated, thanks! No. The Canon DSLRs use EF mount and the Rebel and D20 can also use the EF-S mount standards. The A1 uses FD-mount lenses. I'm not aware of any adapter being available. |
What he said. There are some good deals for digital SLR cameras now - especially for the Canon Digital Rebel. With the $100 rebate they are offering, you can get the Rebel with the 18-55 kit lens for around $790 ($690 after rebate - more if you buy some Canon lenses and get into rebate doubling and tripling). Add the hacked firmware for such features as flash exposure compensation and mirror lockup and you will have a great platform to put some good glass on. |
