I'm considering it - opinions?

And yes, I am a competent Linux user.

I run it on a dedicated machine for webserver purposes but i dont use it exclusively, and probably never would because most of the software/games I use are on xp and I dont wanna fool around with WINE or other windows emulators.

I ran it exclusively for one year (2001), but had to set up a windoze box again for CAD work...

I like to mess around with it, but 90% of the time I boot to windows. Pretty much all I do on the PC is play games, so until Linux gets DirectX support or game companies start using something besides DirectX, I have to use Windows.

My main PC runs SUSE 9.0 Professional exclusively, and will be upgraded to 9.2 Pro once the package arrives.  I've used Linux as my primary OS at home for several years, having used SUSE, Red Hat, Knoppix, Slackware and Mandrake (hated Mandrake).  I've also putzed around with FreeBSD.  I'm not a gamer so that isn't a factor for me.

My mail/fileserver runs e-Smith SME Server 5.5 (a Red Hat derivative).

My Compaq laptop has XP Pro on it.  It's handy have a Windows box around to check out things, since I do some consulting.  I'm thinking about redoing it as a dual-boot setup with XP Pro and SUSE 9.2 Pro, especially since the wireless networking stuff is supposed to be greatly improved in SUSE 9.2.

There are things to do on computers besides play games?
