It's brilliant marketing. All of sudden, you have heard of this rescue and, since you have really bad TDS, you are going to send a donation to support this loon. I checked their website to try to get an understanding of their significance but they don't have any type of reports showing the impact that they made. I looked at their 2024 tax return and see that they only brought in about $24K in donations. I'm guessing it's nothing more than the woman in the pictures and maybe one or two other crazy cat ladies that adopt kittens out of their homes. They are unlikely to be adopting out more than a handful of kittens each year. Boutique rescues can have stupid policies because results aren't very important. In contrast, my local shelter that I volunteer at, the Nevada Humane Society, receives about $12 million per year in donations and adopts out thousands of animals, provides low cost spay/neuter and vaccination programs, and has numerous other programs to support pets in the community. They don't screen adopters for their political views. |
