I just quit my job with no notice (Page 4 of 5)

I wish I could do just this. Been here for about 12 years and these assholes just pulled me from the work I’ve done all this time to some new accounts that are pretty different. No ask if I want to make the switch. I got back from two weeks in Japan and was told the day I got back. For now I’m focusing on growing my YouTube channels with the hope of at least replacing my income at some point. Although a hot dog stand sounds fun. Maybe open one in the mountains and get the skiers and snowboarders coming off the hill. |

No monthly payments on anything other than a home and perhaps (short term) a modest car. Definitely no financed toys (boats, ATVs, etc.). |

I think you generally should give two weeks notice to quit a job. Except... when being treated unfairly. In that case, all bets are off, and it sounds like you fall into that category. Best of luck with your hot dog cart. I'll take two chicago dogs. No ketchup. |

I did that once. I was the waste management tech for a nuclear waste testing facility. They fired my boss for no good reason, then dropped all his responibilties on me. Then they declined to pay for updating all my necessary certifications to actually ship their waste. I walked in to my boss's office on a Friday afternoon with all my logs and scheduled shipments and told her how everything was supped to flow. She asked, 'why do I need to know this'. I told her it was because I found a new job, and I start Monday. I also told her that if she sent any of the new shipments without the proper cert's that she would be known as the 'designated felon' in industry parlance. |

about the hotdog cart.I knew a guy who had an enclosed trailer that sold only beavertails(large bread that resembled a beaver tail) and coated it with nutella. he also sold home pressed lemonade.He did this only at fairs and the like during the warm seasons.He said he made bank as it was only him and his wife and sometimes family to help out too.Bank as in thousands of $ for a weekend of work. About quitting i've done that on the spot when I had shitty jobs and just didn't care since my pride was worth more than a salary. My main job I retired from(well semi retired as I do it off and on now) was a union job with a pension so I stuck it out for 27 years until I had enough time in to retire. I was planning to stay longer but the last straw was when I got to work in the States and really liked it and the group of us was asked to extend and most said yes. They strung us along for months until they said na just go home when the year is up.I filled out my retirement papers that week and never set foot back in the Mirabel plant since I had many weeks (6) of vacation I used until my official retirement day came.  |

I'm #3 in my company and have it pretty good for my area as far as income and most would be envious. I get to travel the country on the company dime, have very little oversight, but between some growing pains and minor changes that don't sit well with me plus some significant increased stress also related to the growth pains (customer facing position), I'm thinking about cutting bait and making my various side gigs full time and getting into export consulting. It'll mean a bit of a pay cut but at least I'll use my remaining working years working for me and on my own terms rather than to make someone else's net worth increase. We'll have to see. 23 years in and running the biggest portion of a $18m/year company, my loss would be catastrophic for the place so if they're willing to come to the table with some agreeable terms I might ride it out. It'll need to involve some guaranteed shares and equity in the company and a shift of some paradigms and power dynamics though. So I feel what you're saying. |

I’ve really just started working on it over the last few months, so I have a long road ahead. Spending all my current free time trying to shorten that road. Things do not appear to be looking good right now just about anywhere. The amount of turnover I've seen at this new job so far is absolutely insane. I'm talking almost the whole upper management has been replaced as well as our director in the 4mo i've been here lol. |
