I've had shingles before, thanks to stress. The doctor gave me an anti-viral pill and that cleared it up in a couple of weeks. For me, it wasn't bad. Now, I have heard from folks who got the shot that it really hurts afterwards. I've had single and double pneumonia, the double pneumonia being two years ago. It was rough, and I coughed for about four months afterwards. The coughing for the four months was so bad that I would briefly black out. I'll take the pneumonia shot! For tetanus boosters, I've had them several times and I'll take the shot. |

Do it! If you have any doubts, ask anyone who has had shingles or pneumonia. I got a Flu shot last week. Will it work?  It depends on the variants that are just now emerging. It's always a crap shoot.I also plan on getting the COVID vaccine when it comes out. At my age, the result of a severe infection far outweigh the chances of any reaction. |

If you can clean a cut and/or it's shallow enough to be exposed to oxygen, you'll be fine. Unless you have a deep puncture wound and handle animal shit on a regular basis, you're not getting tetanus. Somewhere along the way, doctors convinced everyone that any minor nick with a rusty nail was going to give you tetanus. My mother taught me this back in the 80s... I have refused it a couple times. Once was in the ER after a car accident after hitting my head on the dash. I was like, Wtf does that have to do with it? I got a, "You don't have to be afraid of needles" speech. |

Aunt has had shingles after the two different shots. Worse each time and has had shingles three times. I get the tetanus shot because I mess with rusty ground and rust a lot. I quit getting flu and pneumonia shots because I kept getting sick from them. Last time I was sick for a damn month. |

I didn't get the pneumonia. There's some evidence that getting the shingles vaccine lowers the chances of getting Alzheimer's. That's a great side benefit but I got the shingles vax because I saw a sweet, wonderful, healthy lady get absolutely wrecked by a case of shingles. |

Its interesting, Ive had quite a few diabetics tell me they have to take the shot because theyre at higher risk . Many of them eat garbage , dont exercise, and continue with uncontrolled blood sugars . The interesting part is how fast those antibodies become glycated and essentially useless . That doesnt even acknowledge AGE/RAGE and increased inflammation leading to higher cortisol ...suppressing and misdirecting whats left of the immune system . Just some thoughts. |

I'm 70, I've never had a flu shot and last time I had the flu was 36 years ago. I don't think I had Chicken Pox as a child so there is no reason to get a shingles shot and I've never had pneumonia. I don't get tetanus shots unless I have a puncture wound can't remember the last time, decades ago though. I don't plan on getting any vaccines that I don't have to. |
