| Mail delivery is such a shit show these days that I don't risk using cursive. The younger generation was never taught it, and there are plenty of older retards who were taught it, but still can't read it. I print addresses in the most deliberate, plain block text that I can manage for the lowest common denominator to understand. |

If they are not misdelivering the mail they are stealing it. |

Seriously...almost every week I get someone's chicken scratch that the mail guy, who probably can't even read cursive, threw in my mailbox. I don't really care about the whole cursive/not cursive debate. I use both as the mood strikes What fascinates me, however, is that every week you receive personalized mail. I feel pretty confident in saying I haven't received a non junk-mail letter in a decade. All email, phone, or text |

There was a stink raised about a DC high school that spent more per-student than any other school in the nation. No kid failed. If they did not show up to take a test (and may never showed up for class), the rule was that got a 50% on it...the minimum passing grade. Teachers got $30k bonuses for the "record college acceptance rate." (This was community college applications.) Dunno how much the administrators received. Many teachers were horrified at what they saw, and powerless to do anything about it. But what are you gonna do? If you hold the kids back until they learn in certain districts, think of all the extra facilities you'll have to build to house the log jam. And how long are you gonna hold them in each grade? Do you want teenagers in elementary schools, or 30 year old men in high schools? |

I never learned how to write in cursive due to some schooling SNAFUs in my childhood. I can’t read half the shit people write in cursive unless I take the time to sit down and decipher it. Mind you, I was told on multiple occasions during state-level testing in high school that I read at the level of a college graduate. It’s not a question of literacy skills.
