Seriously...almost every week I get someone's chicken scratch that the mail guy, who probably can't even read cursive, threw in my mailbox. As a FYI for those who don't think anythings wrong with it, kids are even taught cursive anymore...so yeah.

| There is a frighteningly high percentage of the population that is semi-literate at best, so why take the chance of one of these people trying to read cursive. High schools are giving diplomas to completely illiterate people now, and its highly likely some of them will end up working for the USPS. |

Read how the source defines it. It doesn't mean can't read. In addition from said source: " The data, from the 2023 Program for the International Assessment of Adult Competencies (PIAAC), show that the average U.S. literacy score was not measurably different from the international average. The average U.S. scores in numeracy and adaptive problem solving were lower than the international averages. "When you look at the average skills in the U.S. population compared with our economic peers, we appear to be better in reading literacy. " |

The scores are not made public. If the media requests them, the district will redact most of the results. But Project Baltimore obtained the results for all of the students tested at Patterson High School. In reading, 628 Patterson High School students took the test. Out of those students, 484 of them, or 77%, tested at an elementary school reading level. That includes 71 high school students who were reading at a kindergarten level and 88 students reading at a first-grade level. Another 45 are reading at a second-grade level. Just 12 students tested at Patterson High School, were reading at grade level, which comes out to just 1.9%. They're not stupid, they're not lazy, and I can see that they're trying to do a good job, but they just don't have the basic tools to do the jobs. |

After I answered I asked them to tell me what year I was born. None of them could figure it out and just started guessing, it's a sad trend. |

Everyone with 2 pennies to rub together either pays for private school or sends their kids out of county. |
