Grocery Prices Are Out Of Control (Page 1 of 12)

We usually buy groceries in smaller amounts during the week since plans change frequently as my wife is the sole care taker of her elderly mother. \We went shopping at wally world for this weeks grocery allowance. A couple of years ago we filled up a cart to the brim at Pubilx & spent $360.00+, which was the most we had ever shelled out in one trip. Well this trip wasn't much different as far as the type of food we purchased & the grand total for the same cart was $636.97 A new record.  From now after this food is gone we be eating pepper soup. |

| Without a doubt the prices are bad. Grocery store apps have saved me a lot of money in the past couple years. You can clip coupons to your heart’s content, and compare prices between the stores. Freddie’s does occasional blowout sales on their packaged organic ground beef for $3 ish a pound. |

I mostly buy meat on sale and bag it and freeze it for future meals. Yes things have gone up, especially since 2020, but it's really not that big a percentage of my cost of living. Property taxes and insurance, on the other hand, have taken a big painful jump. eta: Guessing this is another one of those threads that exist just for the N_Ts to converge on. |

Only gonna get worse. Diesel is over 6/gal. I wouldn't be surprised to see ~$9/gal before EoY. Unless something drastic happens. Which it probably won't. Even if something happens right this second, it would take weeks/months for prices to fall. Grocery prices will more than likely never fall again. Sirloin tips/strips were 9.99/lb (sometimes 6.5/lb on sale) last September. They increased to 15.99 before the iran thing. They're still 15.99 right now. That won't last long. I haven't bought them since they went up. Not worth 16/lb. |

Property tax has gone up an insane amount! You're right about that. I don't own property, I'm told by family how asinine it is. Same with insurance. Mines gone up at least 100% probably more actually fucking ridiculous. There's nothing we can do about it though. |

A few years ago $360 got him a cartful at Publix (the expensive place). He just did double that at Walmart (the cheap, nasty place) for an equivalent cart. FDJT, FJB, FDJT. This is the result of their drunken spending for the last 10 years. We just got our insurance renewal at work. Up 43% over last year. |

It was not my intent to offer fodder for the N_T retards, they started their own thread already about the 2028 election is lost. I was merely making an observation about the current cost of food since the last time my wife & I loaded up on vittles. You are spot on about taxes & insurance costs, I can control my food intake & it's not like I can't afford to buy groceries on this scale. I may get relief in 2027 with an increase in our homestead exemption that could lower my property tax significantly. My home is almost paid off & I put everything extra that I can toward the principle but my mortgage payment went up by 1k since hurricane Ian. |

We are lucky in a way that we shop at the commissary at Fort Huachuca instead of the only grocery store in our town, Walmart. The price of ground beef at the commissary is 1/2 the price of the ground roadkill at Wallyworld. We try to hit the commissary at least once a month and really stock up while there because it is an hour away from where we live. We were at the commissary the other day and I noticed that the canned mushrooms that we used to get for 45 cents before the earth-shattering covid scamdemic are now $1.19, and everything else is close to double of what it used to be. The 80% ground beef is about $3.80 a lb there if bought as 5/10lb chub, or $4.25 a lb if bought in smaller packages. WalMart, ground beef is over $6 a pound for the same 80%. |

Ask yourself if things would have been better under Harris. Frankly the electorate of the country is the problem. Even things like the fed that create a lot of problems for US families probably have done well if it was Congress managing the USD. The country either needs to wise up and make educated votes in the primaries before parties can control the outcome of general elections, or we need to end universal suffrage due to the human rights violations it forces on the productive members of society. AI and automation are only going to greatly compound these problems and I think we should be deeply skeptical that any form of democracy can exist when the bulk of voters have little to no contribution on society beyond what they consume. Maybe, if we are lucky, this pain forces enough people to finally pull their head out of their ass before we go off the cliff. I wouldnt count on it though. |

The sweetest thing I bought was an 8 pack of ginger ale & a box of fucking graham crackers. |
