if all we are asking is for our goods to be able to be sold in Canada without being crazy tariffed while they have been able to send whatever shit from wherever Scot free since forever - I don’t think that’s unreasonable but I understand if someone has some Canadian friends who are upset or their job deals with customs etc that think tariffs suck

I understand the debt just hit 40 trillion and trumps wild hairing carrot and stick 5k checks to the masses if republicans win but if that keeps his agenda going and he keeps both houses - I’ll smile and clap at his audacity not really expecting the 5k to materialize and if I get a 5k check and the deficit keeps going up? better me getting it than a imported 3rd world “new citizen” that cares not for our country except finding out how to get in on the grift. besides that 40t is never going to go down without a major reset that will render the point mute

What long view?  You think you can predict politics and world events and then know exactly what to do now to control them?  The long view, whether you like it or not, is controlled by the global elites.  They control the senior politicians in both parties.  Those senior politicians have 30+ years of appointing judges and other high profile people in the government.  That is the group that control the long view.  That is the group that dictated Thune as Senate Majority Leader and Mitch McConnel before him.

Liberals aren't going to "kill the country" because that would remove the power the global elites.  They had a chance under Obama, they didn't do it.  People on this site were screeching "Burn it (the  country) down" because the liberals were going to give the Free Shit Army everything they wanted and destroy the country anyway.   Did that happen?  Nope.  The got expensive healthcare subsidized by tax payers.

Then Obama bombed some countries and enhanced the military industrial complex.  Short term, like I mentioned, he opened the border to bring in more people dependent on the government, so that eventually they will get voting rights and the Ds will never lose again.  The Democrats winning isn't the end of the world, look at California.  Sure it has problems but it is still massive, growing, and wealthy.  Same with Chicago and New York city.  They haven't collapsed or fallen apart, no matter how much we hoped that would happen.

The next Dem President those borders are going to be swung wide open again...because the Do Nothing Republican Congress has failed the people.  You seem to gloss over that aspect of things.  Trump came in with strong political capital and gave Congress as list of things.  The Speaker of the House said no and got removed.  He was replaced with someone who said NO slightly less.  Thune has always told Trump to get lost.  Just like Paul Ryan did in Trump 1.0.  Thune, Ryan, Johnson...etc all answer to the wealthy elites who fund their PACs.

Blaming the Left is exactly what the elites want you to do.  The constant fighting and blaming distracts people from who is really calling the shots.  That doesn't mean the Democrats don't suck, they do, but they aren't the source of the problem.

I want the Republicans to retain the House and Senate as well.  I don't see it happening, mainly because of the economy.  Daily life hasn't moved in a positive direction for most of the working class.  Why would they vote to continue "more of the same" when almost everything promised has not been delivered.

I'm curious who you and the rest of the "Trump is always right" crowd is going to blame when we lose House.  Trump has already told people to blame Congress and not him if Republicans don't show up to vote.  The blame is 50/50 in my book.  The do nothing Congress needs to be flushed but that means Dems take it.  Trump failed to improve the economy in 2 years and that is why people are ready to flush the Do Nothing Congress.

Massie will be gone, so you can cheer that.  Problem solved right?

My agenda is America First.  Trump has abandoned most of that besides securing the border.  I too wanted the conflict with Iran permanently ended.  Every leader who chanted "Death to America" should be eliminated.  That isn't happening.  Trump keeps pushing for a deal to end it, while the leadership there continues to lie and attack.  Those people should be eliminated, not given a deal.

The SAVE Act won't pass because the elites wants elections that fudgeable.  That is why Mitch McConnell was always in favor in eliminating campaign finance laws and always against requiring voter ID.  Wealthy business owners want to have their way, which does not include honest elections.  Massie wanted to cut spending, a direct threat to the wealth elites; Trump finally got him removed for them.

Lindsy Graham was a RINO, Massie was not.  Massie stuck to his principles of smaller government, cutting spending, not being the world police, no wars, and no tariffs.  Trump campaigned on most of those.  Now we see massive debt, a war that is dragging on, higher prices, and a larger government.  The middle of the road Republican isn't going to rush to the polls to vote for more of that.  I fear the 2026 mid-terms will be similar to 2006.

To incentivize voters to cast ballots for Republicans, President Trump used his convention speech to promise a dividend of $5,000 to every adult citizen if the Republican Party maintains control of Congress in the midterm election.

"If the Republicans win, you win with us and you get $5,000," he said. "It will be called the Trump dividend, congratulations."

Trump did not provide details about where the money would come from or the legality of his promise. According to the most recent Census data, it could cost $1 trillion or more to provide these payments.

Trump promises $5,000 dividend in convention speech, but only if Republicans win

Per the USCMA there were zero tariffs between Canada and USA on pretty much everything imported and exported between the two countries before Trump 2.0.  On a goods and service basis, in 2025 Canada enjoyed a US $20.6 billion dollar surplus.  In 2025, US goods and services imports to Canada totaled  US $398.1 billion. Total goods and services trade between Canada and USA totalled US $872.3 billion.  In short, trade on a goods and services basis was basically balanced.

These numbers are taken directly from the Office of United States Trade Representative - Executive Office of the President website: -->

https://ustr.gov/countries-regions/americas/canada

Worth noting that in 2025 US bought about US $130 billion in energy from Canada (oil, natural gas, electricity) at approximately a 15% discount to world pricing per the oil.  Take that out of the equation and USA enjoyed a huge surplus in 2025.

Worth also noting that 41 million Canadians buy more goods and services from the USA than the combined 1.6 billion people of China and Japan.

Also worth noting that on a goods and services basis,  Mexico enjoyed a US $183 billion trade surplus with the US in 2025.

Someone else pointed it out, but the information making our previous trade negotiations look incompetent came from Trump. The smallest amount of research reveals that conditions leading to the global balance of trade were not unreasonable before Trump 2.0, but rather there were specific areas for improvement. These areas included but were not limited to: intellectual property law enforcement in other countries (we need to stop third world countries or China from stealing our ideas); diversify supply chains; lower the cost of doing business in the US (streamline regulations, cut red tape, give tax incentives); and incentivize or tariff certain sectors related to national security/sovereignty.

But instead of doing small adjustments to domestic and foreign policy, we had expansive changes to our trade policies around the globe and now we have these ridiculous trade wars, tariffs on things we can’t produce, and a lot less goodwill globally.

The far leftists sure.  The people running the Democrat party, not so much.  They want the USA, just with no opposition from Republicans.  That's why they were fine with opening the border.  Dilute the majority and also bring in several other cultures so that the people constantly fight between themselves and there is no single powerful voting block.

If they ruin the manufacturing base, the service base, and destroy the incomes then they lose all their power.  That is what I considered "destroyed".  Would life be worse for most people without that happening, sure but life is worse for most people right now too.  Consumer sentiment is set to come in under 50%.

Just like with Trump, the existing Democrat elites and establishment are pushing back on the far left.  They have spent decades buying politicians and influence, they won't let that go without a fight.  The Democrats running in my state, are mostly presenting themselves as moderates now.  They have gone back to their original plot of "we feel your pain" and "just want to help the working class survive".  Meanwhile the Republican candidates offer up nothing new, scream about how the Democrats are woke and crazy and must be stopped.  Trump has made it so Republicans can't offer up any ideas other than what Trump supports.

The only shift I've seen is the Democrats "we help the little guy" policy this time focuses on all the Democrat Socialist solutions instead of just more government programs and handouts.  Depending on how many of those candidates win, that will raise the profile of the DSA.

Pretty much all that was done in the OBBB last year.  What have they been doing since?

Get Active or Get Disarmed! That means get involved in helping good candidates in primary and general election. That is in addition to being politically active once they are elected.

There is no consumer-driven market in commie land. Bureaucrats decide what is needed and what you will get. THey make all the decisions.

Controlled economy is claiming an all-encompassing prescience of what everyone wants vs. what they will need. And they never get anything right.

The Special distribution stores provided the nomenklatura with stocked groceries while the normies had bare shelves.
They got special apartments, houses and working conditions.
Automobiles. Vacations. Western appliances and electronics.

So there were special things for the appartchnicks (true believers in their secular religion), not much materially for the normies (non-practicing/non- preaching parishoners) and the gulags (for the heretics).

The far left is doing a pretty damn good job taking over the Democrat party. They may not be there yet, but it's getting closer. There's no reason it couldn't happen, just the same way the MAGA wing completely reshaped the Republican party.

it IS a perfect show of how the voting public at large has the memory of a goldfish.

Part of that is by design by the media.   They suppress every story they don't want and then promote the ones they do.

The Dem Governor in that image is the one sent State Troops to harass people at church during covid, placed a swat team outside the home one of the early covid cases with orders not to let him leave, killed off small businesses with lockdowns, embraces deviants and abortions....but then turns around brags about how his faith leading him.  He also vetoed lowering state income tax, before then taking credit for it bragging about it, but now saying it is bad because there is a budget shortfall and all the Republicans fault.

The public doesn't care about most of that, thus the memory of a goldfish.  They only care about what is showing up in their feed at the moment.

But one something the public is aware of on a daily basis is how much $$$ is leaving their wallet.  The Republican leaders telling people it is fine, short term discomfort, a transitionary period....etc doesn't make anything better when the gas pump turns off because pre-auth limit has been reach before the tank was full.

There is not a consumer market in communism. It's a closed market. Determined by bureaucrats what is given to who and when. It is not supply and demand.  THat's what threw me off.

You get only what they determine they will give to you. And sometimes its not even the minimum. And that can be attached to a number of incentives or disincentives. Or simply availability or lack of.

There is nothing efficient or capable about it.

Communism fails in everything.

Yeah I am aware of that. By "consumer market" I meant anything made for the general public without a government applicability. Stuff made for the average person

With our Do Nothing Republican Congress I will surprised if there isn't a massive blue tsunami that cleans them out.

The House Leadership is completely out of touch with people and reality.  Speaker Johnson did add in a 48 hour notice to be called back in the terms on the recess.  If the heat picks up on them taking another 50 days off I bet they get called for a vote on something they describe as serious.

If Trump is so amazing and motivating to the Republican base...then why did the US 4th District House seat just cancel their Lincoln Day Dinner?  Trump got his hand picked puppet in place, something like 55%-45%.  You would think the GOP Lincoln Day Dinner for that district would be a massive MAGA event.

Yet an event that is packed wall to wall every year had so few people buy tickets that they had to cancel the event!  Explain that "Trump is always right" crowd.  You said the people who voted to get rid of Massie were energized and motivated...not dumb boomers listening to broadcast network news and bought into Trump's lies.  So what happened, why is that 55% of voters no longer engaged?

From a State Rep in that district.

Not in a command economy. Supply is decided by the government. Demand is ignored (more of just guessing- wrongly). Because they are psuedo-religiously prescient. They know exactly what the entirety of the population wants. And will get. It's in the von Mises book- Omnipotent Government. What you want and what you actually can get is a free market thing when expressed in producing it. What you want and what you get in the controlled economies is next to coincidental if it happens at all (for normies).

And why authoritarian governments spawn black markets- because open markets do not exist in them.

F' that weasily little Bassturd.

Congress hasn't delivered shit.

The one thing that really needed to get passed the "Save America Voting Act," they couldn't seem to get done. As usual - a bunch of do nothing, worthless Bassturds.

All they seem to be worried/concerned about, is protecting their little fiefdoms and their jobs. F' all that.

How about showing some F'ing backbone and do what is right for America? If you can't get that done while holding both houses, what good are you? Just Pathetic.

(And) I not only do not want $5000 from the Government, I do not want the Government offering it to me/everyone. What about some F'ing fiscally responsible governing? When are we ever going to see that? When does that shit start?

The $40 Trillion debt is not going to go away on it's own - and the ever growing debt and it's subsequent interest, will eventually crush us. Show some F'ing backbone - do what's right, and address that MF'r. THAT is what I want to see.
