Man I love how Rene Herse tires ride but holy crap getting them to reliably seal is impossible. I have put 12oz of orange seal in the back tire in total now and the sidewalls still leak. Its like the sealant isnt clotting. Its always a tiny hole. Ive even rested the tire on either side for 24 hours. Nope. Still not sealing. As soon as you ride it the hole works open and the sidewalls leak. Ive heard of people painting the inside of the tire with a latex resin of sorts but I cant find the details anymore. Seems like a PITA to get the tire cleaned up to try it but wonder if thats actually easier in the long run. ETA looks like people thin out rubber cement with n-heptane and apply that. |

If I encountered what you are, I'd think I'm either not inflating to high enough pressure when seating the beads, or there's a tire or wheel defect. Every WTB tire I ever tried was malformed, for example. If they were new wheels and I couldn't get a known good tire to seat, I'd take a closer look at the wheel. All my nice wheels as of now are DT Swiss (3 pairs) or Campagnolo (3 pairs). I have various cheap wheels and tires on our cruisers and kid haulers, but none of them are tubeless. Never heard of Rene Herse until your post - gravel tires from my quick search. I use muc-off for my mountain bikes and orange seal endurance for my road bikes. |

The chain lube devices are a great idea, after the like 5th water crossing in Vermejo my drive train sounded like crap, lucky the aid stations had lube. Sea otter classic oughta be dope. |

They were also hosing down the bikes at the feed stations. Must be nice to have a professional pit crew. My only goal for sea otter will be to finish under six hours. I've maintained almost 20 mph for 60 miles on my road bike, so I think it's doable. |

Designed and 3D printed this little holder for my water bladder pump. The setup isn't light but I was having a heck of a time sucking water up a tiny tube from the frame bag mounted 3L bladder. Found this little hand pump and it works really well. Just needed to figure out a way to keep it out of the way while not in use. Will test it out in the next couple days on a ride. Went to Tulsa Tough this weekend. Watched Friday night racing. I almost got in the Cat 3 race which I am glad I did not....it was a wreck fest. One of my friends got in a huge pile up and snapped his carbon handlebars in 1/2. Cat 3 this year was full on Jr's that have huge motors but zero handling skills I was told by most of the older Cat 3's. Saturday was crazy due to weather. My race in the morning was cancelled due to major rain and such...but over the day weather got better and the afternoon racing did occur. Sunday morning my race did go on and all the races did. I was in the Master's B race and since this was now our only race everyone went balls out from the start. 62 signed up but only 35 raced...my guess most of them just said "fuck it" after Saturday being cancalled. I did the race and was in the pack most of the time and was even in front and got called out in the Tulsa Tough youtube livestream which was cool (about 15 minutes in on it). The last few laps crybaby hill finally started getting to me and I slowly fell off. I still got 11th so I am happy with that. No wrecks for me and now heading back home today. I have video to work on this week, and of course I am racing again Thursday at the Driveway! |

I have now three races of video to get out....this Thursday my computer/gopro mount was falling off. I had to stop for a free lap to take it off so I can figure it out later. Ends up my integrated carbon handlebar mount threads pulled out for the mount. This sucks on many levels....first to replace is a pain in the ass.....have to take the entire cockpit apart. The second is....wait for it.....the replacement cost $700 MRSP. So I am in the process of using my connections to maybe get it replaced under warranty or I will just JB weld a mount for now and purchase new bars this winter. Oh I got an email from Tulsa Tough....they have some payout money to send me??? I think since one of my races was cancelled due to rain the combined all the prize money in one race which I did get 11th so maybe I won like $5 lol |
