I have been a lurker here for awhile... I am doing a reasearch paper advocating the repeal of the Violent Crime Control and Law Enforcement Act of 1994 (assault weapons ban). I have been looking for and am unable to find the statistics for the various types and numbers of guns used in crime. I know i have seen them before. I would apreciate any information available on this. And any other websites that might help me [email protected] |
| You won't find very many statistics for this. Assault weapons as they are defined by the Violent Crime & Law Enforcement Act of 1994 aren't actually used in crime very much, it's something like 1% of all gun crime. The anti groups don't want to publish numbers because then it would become obvious that the ban is not needed. |

Another angle that might be interesting to research would be just how many ACTUAL assault rifles (as in capable of fully automatic fire) versus our evil little semi-auto versions are used to commit crimes. The evil-looking-stuff-on-a-rifle ban has got to win the all-time how-could-anything-be-so-stupid award. Find some statistics on how many shootings weren't solved because a flash-hider was on the firearm, or how many times the collapsible stock HAD to be used (maneuverability in a crowded space??), or better yet, how many times a perfectly good firearm was not fired, but used as a holder for a bayonet so that a stabbing occurred! Just an idea..... [8D] WWoodworth |
