When is the next WalMart price hike expected to hit? The first hike was what…early July? Wondering how long those pricing contracts last. 3 months, 4 months, 6 months, annual, etc…

Motorcraft just announced yesterday.  Along with Fuchs.

If it tracks with motorcraft, we will see an October retail increase.

If it DOES happen....what's that going to do to the price of diesel fuel, and everything else oil related?

Yes, defence production will be invoked and all exports will be taxed above the profitability point to drive domestic production and supply.

If a diesel export ban is enacted, the effects will be devastating.

There will be wars. Governments might collapse. I'm not being a doomer- this is just common sense. Common sense to predict it anyway. Apparently not common sense if it has been seriously considered.

Maybe it'll wake a few people up to the idiocy that is ''green power.''

The only green energy worth a damn for a base load [electricity] is dam's. Guess what green energy source is hated by the greenies? Yup, you guessed it, dams. I guess you could toss nuke into green power but that'll never happen in my lifetime and honestly, they really do need to actually do something with the spent fuel other then leave it in pools.

While green energy [wind and sun] can do some good, it's neither a reliable base load nor a reliable peaker load so in the end, it's a terrible way to run a reliable power grid and the more you rely on it and the less you rely on fossil fuels, the worse the electrical grid will become.
Liberals are a curious mix of communism and fascism, they want to destroy you but want to use your own money to do it.

I'm getting down to the last box, the others have all been destroyed...

I want/need diesel to be a lot cheaper, but government meddling in markets is a stupid fucking idea. Leave shit alone and let it work itself out, even if it takes demand destruction to do it.

Nuclear power is green.  Works very well.

It is not green when it produces waste that is dangerous for thousands of years. Even processing the fuel creates Tailings which are isolated from the environment because they contain long-lived radioactive materials in low concentrations and toxic materials such as heavy metals.

So what is the answer?

Foxtrot said he took a pay cut when this crap started.  We don't think of you as "big Oil" brother.

He has also pointed out that the oil companies are enjoying a 5x increase in gross per barrel compared to a year ago.  I have been chastised for calling that "Profiteering", so yay free market.  Somebody is making bank.

As soon as anyone suggests any kind of price or export control, I hear that the oil companies will engage in extreme thuggery, closing refineries and causing actual fuel shortages like we had in the 1970's   Many say within weeks of any kind of government action.

WE all seem to agree, that without somehow reducing the price of Diesel, the consumer costs will swing the Midterm elections.

Someone just suggested just let it play out.   So $10 diesel and $8 gasoline for years?  Ugh.

At least when the DSA gets elected I will have some fun watching them fuck this up worse.

Commercial aviation jet fuel is basically a very pure kerosine with additives to prevent water and wax crystals from plugging the fuel lines at high altitude/low temperature.

Military aviation is a different kettle of fish - still  based on kerosine, but has additional additives: more icing inhibitor, corrosion protection (to protect fuel pumps and regulators on ground equipment that run it instead of diesel, and a static inhibitor, (which I am guessing is to facilitate in-air refueling.)

Are you budgeting for the hazardous waste disposal when your solar panels reach end of life?

If done right it works well but companies way to often try to be cheap fvcks and fission material isn't something to cheap out on. Also, we SUCK at spent fuel rod storage [and other nuke waste that isn't low level] or recycling. We've have, as a country, done a very poor job in that area. NIMBY strikes again even after God knows how much money has already been spent. Yucca Mountain alone is proof of that.

I went to Wal Mart today on my lunch break. I was curious to see what I would find on the oil aisle and I wanted to pick up a couple of jugs of M1 Advanced Clean to try. It's still $34 a jug. I was surprised by the Super Tech section. There wasn't much on the shelves. And none of it was Dexos certified. It's all whatever new formulations Warren is using now. The other oils were available and seemed to be stocked okay. I picked up another gallon of diesel oil for my oldest son. I now I have three oil changes for him since he's not stocking any. Sigh.

Our diesel pricing will short term plummet.

Tankage will fill quickly.  Within days / weeks.

Gasoline and jet fuel (specifically jet fuel) will go through the roof.  Other ancillary products will sky rocket in prices.

Refineries will then be turned back, because they have too much diesel inventory.  Which will cause shortages of other products.

Globally, the reaction will be hard to judge.

We will have basically declared economic warfare on the entire globe at that point.  The retaliation… who knows.  It would all be bad.

I mean this is really a black swan event.

I think something in hindsight that could be done… you all know I don’t like the SPR.  And this shows what I said years ago about the SPR vs refining capacity.

If we were truly concerned about petroleum reserves. We would probably have a .mil run / owned refinery on the east coast & west coast. Maybe one in the center of the U.S. as well, in Oklahoma.

Think about the lake city ammo plant. That, but a refinery.

.mil can own it.  Have a criteria for a private company to run it in non-war time.  The military is the single largest buyer of fuel in the United States.  They can feed themselves. Any extra capacity can be sold into the market via the operator of the refinery.

Just some minor ranting.

We need to change the energy policy of the government. I’m not saying intervention.  But recognition that petroleum products are the back bone of the American economy. It’s not going away.

We have invested billions if not hundreds of billions of dollars into fake green energy. Whether it’s wind and solar or whatever.  Fine, whatever. I’m not here to argue energy deltas and shit.

Petroleum products aren’t going away.

We need to get out of the 1970s energy policy.  We are not an import only oil economy.  We are the largest crude producer and the largest LNG producer and exporter in the world.  We could use this as a diplomatic tool around the world.

The bottle neck, now, is refining capacity.  We need to get on footing to be dominant in that.  To do that, we need modernized .gov energy policies.  In any number of ways.

Using the SPR as active tankage. Not letting it just to be used as a political tool.

Recognizing that refining is key.

Using our advantage in this hemisphere, of crude and gas resources. South America is exploding with new crude development.  Let’s align ourselves as the counter opec.

Let’s use our resources to make life for the U.S. citizens, cheaper.  Lets stop trying to make energy more expensive.
Direction, not intention, determines destination.

Integrity is the essence of everything successful.
