You just contradict yourself didn’t you? You said it’s the same and now you’re saying you don’t know anything.

From the details we have been given its differences are as follows.
The U.S. state’s that the agreement will not expire and will remain fully in effect even if Greenland transitions from an autonomous Danish territory into an independent nation.
Unilateral power to build out additional military infrastructure and structures without requiring case-by-case approval from Greenland or Denmark.
Bans non-NATO adversaries (such as China or Russia) from making sensitive investments in Greenland that could threaten U.S. security. So any country outside of the NATO alliance can be barred if the U.S. determines the investment poses a security risk.

Yeah, I read the same AI response as you.

Assuming it's fact, which may be a stretch, the differences aren't as great as you suggested. Recognizing Greenland as having a say is merely an update based on their changed political relationship with Denmark. The prior approval requirements in the previous agreement seem to have been cursory, so no big change there. Not being tied to NATO's existence is interesting, but then our supposed "exclusive" access also includes other NATO members, so not so exclusive, and within the spirit of the original agreement. The Ability to prevent adversaries from making critical investments is the most interesting point if its true and not full of loopholes.

Let's wait for the real agreement before we get too excited.

certainly not the only thing.  but IMO the idea of pilots being captured and televised for PR shook him some.  of course the usage rates of munitions and severe damage to allied infrastructure had an effect also.

War in #Yemen #SITREP | September 19, 2026 | One week after the collapse of the West Coast front, the rapid territorial losses previously seen in Taiz, Lahij, and Hudaydah appear to have slowed.

Fighting has shifted into a grinding battle for hilltops and strategic positions, with neither side reporting major advances.

The Houthis claim Saudi
@modgovksa aircraft have carried out more than 700 airstrikes, while reported Houthi losses exceed 400 killed in action.

For now, the front lines appear to be stabilizing, with both sides exchanging strikes and launching limited attacks rather than making significant territorial gains.

Yemeni government forces @Yem_army_media report intensified operations across southern Ma'rib.

The Third Military Region Command (MRC) has used artillery and drones against Houthi positions, troop concentrations, and vehicles.

In the Al-Fulayhah sector, government forces say they repelled a Houthi infiltration attempt, killing 12 fighters and wounding others.

Government aircraft also reportedly struck Houthi concentrations and vehicles at Umm Rish camp and Aqabat Mal'a.

Meanwhile, the Southern Giants Brigades @SouthArmed @alamalika report strikes on Houthi vehicles, barracks, and trenches along the Al-Bayda front, as well as troop concentrations and military positions in Kahbub, near Bab al-Mandab.

The fighting has become a war of attrition, with both sides trading strikes and contesting individual positions.

There are NO confirmed major breakthroughs at this stage.

My bigger concern is how long NATO could sustain a campaign against Russia. The USA didn't have the magazine depth against the Houthis and Iran. Something tells me that Europe is in worse shape. What happens if NATO retaliatory strikes, no matter how effective, dont stop the bear. 1000 casualties in a day is just a slow Tuesday for Russia. Trump doesn't want to attack the civilian population in Iran. Blowing up power plants, bombing cities, etc. If we wanted to raze Tehran we could. There is just no justification for that. But in a defensive war against Russia the gloves would come off.

If Putin attacks NATO, that is not going to go the way he thinks it would. This is not WW1 where you have 1000 Russians a day marching toward the front. Better chance that Kaliningrad and maybe even St Petersburg falls in the opening act. Russia is not going to win an attrition war against a unified Europe. And their population is not as large and young as it was back in the Soviet Union. They are falling behind technologically and economically.

Yes. Agreed.

What I interpreted optimistically as Trump shifting strategy on a dime, may also be interpreted as backing down or "taking the foot off the gas". I also complained here about Trump appearing to lose his nerve with Iran and referred him to being like Cougar from Top Gun (the pilot in the beginning of the movie who panics and Maverick has to escort him back to the carrier). Probably not fair since I dont think Trump is worried (ever) about his own personal safety but instead worried about US personnel losses.

I hope you are correct. I hope we NEVER find out.

To me, NATO (without the US) has a very thin crust of hi-tech air power backed by a tiny but well trained army but with zero depth. If they dont stop whatever Russia does in 24-48 hours, they will be spent. I do NOT see Europe recruiting or conscripting any reasonable sized military with LESS chance of arming them. Even if they had 5 years to prepare. European armies would be maxed out trying to maintain order in European cities between all the muslim "new europeans" and Russian DRG types not to mention right and left protests and demonstrations of all sorts.

agree.

make no mistake -- I DO NOT want Russia to attack Europe / NATO.   but Russia can't even successfully invade Ukraine which has zero air force.

anything 'big' he tried against Europe would likely fail miserably.  but that f*cker is crazy so i wouldn't put it past him.

of course there are other 'smaller' things he could do with missiles, drones, espionage / sabotage, cyber, etc.

outside of Ukraine -- it's a 'low boil'.  i hope it stay that way -- at least managable in a tit-for-tat sense.

unfortunately for Ukraine i don't see anything major / decisive happening on that front anytime soon.

It is highly unusual to see a Russian Buk-M3 launcher with all six canisters mounted. Real Buk-M3s were usually seen with only one to three missiles, to the point that a full six-canister loadout became one of the more reliable indicators when trying to distinguish real launchers from decoys.

Even here, I doubt all six contain live missiles. I suppose the upper canisters may be empty and used as improvised anti-drone protection.

Why taking out Russia’s S-400 systems is so critical right now.

Ukrainian forces recently destroyed an S-400 missile launcher using FP-1 attack drones. But this isn't just about weakening Russia's air defenses anymore.

According to Reuters, Russia has started repurposing target missiles (RM-48U) fired from these S-400 systems to strike ground targets across Ukraine. In July and early August, these converted missiles made up more than half of the 228 ballistic and hypersonic weapons launched at Ukrainian territory.

Every S-400 launcher eliminated means one less platform for terror.

Due to the recent Ukrainian counteroffensive north of Lyman, the city of Svyatohirsk has gone from being a partially-contested city to being over 20 km from the nearest Russian-controlled territory.

This puts the city out of range of most barrel artillery, and puts it more than 2-times further from Russian-controlled territory than Slovyansk and Kramatorsk.

This is a very positive development for Ukrainian forces in Lyman, as previously, supply into Lyman could only be conducted either across pontoon bridges over the Siverskyi Donets River (all the ordinary bridges there are destroyed), or with UAVs. Now, the city can be supplied through Svyatohirsk as a rear logistical hub, as well as via roads leading from Kharkiv Oblast.

So, not only has this counteroffensive significantly alleviated pressure on Slovyansk to the south and Borova to the north, but it has also made the defence of Lyman much easier. As with all counteroffensives, it has a major PR element to it, but this one has real operational-level importance - more-so than the counterattacks in other parts of the frontline.

If you don't believe that Russia 🇷🇺 would be a threat to France 🇫🇷, here's a map posted by Rybar, a Telegram channel affiliated with the Russian FSB

The map shows potential targets for Geran-5 drone strikes if a launch site were set up in Algeria 🇩🇿, a Russian-allied state. Among the targets are nuclear power plants, refineries, air bases, and ports...

https://t.me/rybar_africa/5289

This kind of Russian propaganda is quite ridiculous, far removed from reality and the actual state of the threat. So here is the real state of the Geran drone threat 🇷🇺:

🔸There are currently 15 fixed launch sites for Geran drones (half of which launch Geran-4/5 with jet propulsion)
🔸The Geran-4 has a range of 850 km and is currently launched only from fixed launch rails.
🔸The Geran-5 is launched from launch rails, but also from aircraft; it resembles more of a missile, of the same type as the low-cost S8000 Banderol missile
🔸Finally, there is the Geran-2, the classic version derived from the Shahed 136, which could reach 2,500 km in range. This one can be launched from rails, but also from the back of a pick-up truck, making it more mobile.

-> The Baltic, Polish, Moldovan, Romanian, Bulgarian, and Turkish territories are those within range of the current launch sites.
-> The maps from Rybar (and other Russian propaganda outlets) covering Algeria, Mexico, India, North Korea, China, or Iran therefore do not represent the current risks but are primarily intended to instill fear. For a map of the current risks from jet drones (not the Geran-2, not the missiles), here it is:

Some 6,000 people — 200 of them children — are right now starving to death in a humanitarian catastrophe orchestrated by Vladimir Putin's Russia.

The town of Oleshky and its surrounding district in the occupied part of Kherson Oblast exist under Russian occupation as a prison — and it is rapidly turning into a death camp.

No one is allowed in or out. The last food delivery was on May 26. Medical supplies are close to non-existent.

My earlier assumption about this Russian Buk-M3 appears to have been correct.

Additional footage released by the Nemesis unit shows that after the initial strike, the covers came off the upper missile canisters. In the left one, you can clearly see what looks like three logs stuffed inside instead of a live missile.

So at least some of the upper canisters were apparently empty and used as improvised protection rather than carrying missiles.

Sergei Beskrestnov (Flash) has identified that Russian drones are using a SHORAN-style (see graphic)  ground radio beacon system with its drones and one such system dates back to 2022. --

"He said that while such a system is under development, other options are being used. In particular, they use navigation by ground radio beacons.

1/

He explained the principle of operation: receivers are installed on the device, which receive a signal from three points on the ground.

[Tech note: SHORAN used two ground beacons & a nav-data system on the plane.  Three beacons suggests a remote data-linked nav-computer.]

2/

Further, mathematical calculations show the location of the drone, because the coordinates of the beacons are known, and signal delays can be measured. Flash stressed that Ukraine is now actively using this technology during the launch and flights of reconnaissance UAVs.

[Note: Ukraine is using radio ground beaconry for recon-drones similar to the WW2 Shoran station below]
3/

And the Russians began to do this even earlier: in 2022, the Zala UAVs had the option of orientation by beacons. Now they have gone further:

"In December 2025, the enemy spoke about the technology for navigating the Ariadne lighthouses. This project has not been stopped,

[WW2 Shoran performance below left]
4/

...but has been developing all this time, and now the enemy is considering options for installing the system both on Shaheds and on KAB (missiles)."

5/

According to Flesch, if the system is put into order, it will allow the occupying army to navigate deep into our territory at a distance of up to 100 km. "And this is an opportunity to accurately attack a huge part of Ukraine," he stressed."

[Note: Figure below is of planned 5th AF use of Shoran for the cancelled invasion of Japan to give an idea of the ranges involved at higher altitudes.]

6/

This Russian development tells us two things. Ukraine is a head at Satellite GNSS jamming and it's ELINT system is world class.

Sexual Violence in the Context of the Russian Federation Full-Scale Armed Attack against Ukraine

Sexual Violence in the Context of the Russian Federation Full-Scale Armed Attack against Ukraine

Summary

1. This thematic report by the Office of the United Nations High Commissioner for Human Rights (OHCHR) provides an analysis of data, trends and patterns of conflict-related sexual violence1 perpetrated in the context of the Russian Federation's full-scale armed attack against Ukraine. It is based on the findings of OHCHR's Human Rights Monitoring Mission in Ukraine 2 (HRMMU), during the period from 24 February 2022 through 31 July 2026. 3 It builds upon OHCHR's monitoring, documentation and public reporting of sexual violence in Ukraine since 2014. 4 Its findings are assessed against the applicable international human rights law framework.5

2. During the reporting period, OHCHR documented 1004 6 cases 7 of sexual violence perpetrated in both detention and non-detention contexts. These findings, while representative, are not intended as a comprehensive account of sexual violence, which in Ukraine, as in other contexts, is underreported. The patterns observed indicate that sexual violence has been used as a method of torture and other forms of cruel, inhuman or degrading treatment or punishment against prisoners of war (POWs) and civilians.

3. The majority of these cases verified by OHCHR - 89 per cent - are attributed to Russian Federation authorities, including members of the Russian armed forces, the Federal Penitentiary Service (FSIN), and the Federal Security Service (FSB). Eleven per cent of the verified cases are attributed to Ukrainian authorities, including members of the Ukrainian armed forces, the State Penitentiary Service, and the Security Service of Ukraine (SBU).

4. In occupied territory of Ukraine and in the Russian Federation, Russian Federation authorities perpetrated acts of sexual violence against Ukrainian POWs and retained medical personnel and detained Ukrainian civilians, including men and women, on a widespread basis. Violations occurred across the full cycle of internment or detention, respectively: upon capture or arrest, during transfer, during admission to internment and detention facilities or places, during interrogation, throughout internment or detention, including during cell searches and showers, and immediately prior to exchange or release. Violations included gang rape, rape, attempted rape, genital mutilation, sexual assault, electric shocks to genitals, beating of genitals, forced nudity, electric shocks or beatings to the body while nude, degrading treatment of a sexual nature, threats of sexual violence, and other forms of sexual violence. Outside the context of detention, in areas under Russian occupation, primarily women and girls were subjected to rape, including gang rape, attempted rape, and sexual assault. They also endured forced nudity, threats of sexual violence, and other forms of sexual violence, mainly in residential settings.

5. The Russian Federation has failed to take any discernible steps to prevent, investigate, or prosecute sexual violence committed by its personnel. It has enacted legal provisions that provide broad impunity for crimes, including sexual violence, committed during military service and has not engaged with OHCHR on the matter of sexual violence.

6. In Government-controlled territory, almost half of the violations by Ukrainian authorities against Russian and third-country national POWs and conflict-related detainees 8 comprised exclusively threats of sexual violence. Violations also included attempted rape, sexual assault, electric shocks to genitals, beating of genitals, forced nudity, electric shocks or beatings to the body while nude, and degrading treatment of a sexual nature, largely perpetrated during the initial stages of captivity.

7. OHCHR notes that the Government of Ukraine has taken a number of concrete steps to prevent and address such violations by its personnel, including through legal reforms, command-level directives, and regular cooperation with OHCHR and other monitoring mechanisms. However, steps toward accountability remain limited: OHCHR is not aware of any cases moving beyond the investigative stage.

8. This document aims to support national and international efforts to ensure truth, justice, and reparation for survivors, and to prevent recurrence. It sets out concrete recommendations to the parties to the conflict, competent national authorities, and international partners to strengthen prevention, protection, accountability, and survivor-centred support.
What a nice bunch of boys.

Rape of girls as young as 4 and women as old as 82. Routine genital electrocution of male Ukrainian prisoners.

This is just a fragment of the absolutely nightmarish stuff from the just-released UN report on sexual violence in Russia's invasion of Ukraine:

• Violations detailed in the report include rape, gang rape, genital mutilation, electric shocks, and genital beating
• Russian forces are responsible for the vast majority of sexual violence in Ukraine
• The majority of victims are Ukrainian men. In a common form of torture against Ukrainian POWs detailed in the report, Russian forces electrocuted men's genitals using tasers or a Soviet-era military field telephone known as a 'tapik.'
• Women and children, primarily in Ukrainian territory occupied by Russian forces, also fell victim to rapes and sexual assault. The youngest documented rape survivor was a four-year-old girl, and the oldest was an 82-year-old woman, with both cases perpetrated by Russian forces.

I hate the Houthis and wish them all gone to hell. But why are we opening a new front now? Are we finally willing to commit the time, energy and resources into ridding the planet of these vermin?

Or is this another brief yet surprisingly unsatisfying attack that quits as soon as it starts and just stirs them up into shooting at US ships and targets now and forces Trump into another embarrassing "deal" where we look like chucks? Again?

We haven't done anything yet.

The pipeline was attacked by Iraqi PMF militias; Iran has attacked three ships in the past two days; and they're busy digging out a nuclear site.   If I had to bet, I'd go with Iran getting hit rather than the Houthis.

Our long-range responses had a very significant impact in the Moscow region last night. One of Russia’s key oil industry facilities and the aggressor’s logistics facility were hit. These are billions of dollars that sustain the war machine. The systems used included FP-1, RZ-100, MICH-2000, Palianytsia, Vendetta, Liutyi, Bars, Flamingo, Sichen, and Pelican.

I thank our warriors for their accuracy: the Security Service of Ukraine together with the Unmanned Systems Forces, the Special Operations Forces, the Defense Intelligence of Ukraine, and the Foreign Intelligence Service. Sanctions were also imposed on a facility in the Voronezh region. Moscow must end its brutal war and choose peace instead of building layered rings of air defense at the expense of other regions. Steps toward de-escalation are on the table – in energy and food security. What is needed is political will. I thank everyone who is strengthening Ukraine’s long-range capabilities. I am grateful to everyone who complements our long-range responses with responses through sanctions. Glory to Ukraine!

😌 Map of Ukrainian UAV activity over Russian territory as of the morning of September 20.

For three days ahead of today’s operation, UAVs were used to exhaust and overload air defenses in the Moscow region.

At least several targets in Moscow and the surrounding region have been reported as attacked:

🟢 CHP-22 in Dzerzhinsky (2nd video);
🟢 Moscow Oil Refinery in Kapotnya (3rd video);
🟢 Logistics hub in Sofyino (4th video).

My morning today started with congratulations from many foreign colleagues on Moscow Burning Day.

This sight is certainly not an outcome Putin expected when he started his war of aggression against Ukraine.

Now that the war has come home, Russians have only Putin to blame for it. The message to him is simple: look out the Kremlin window, see the flames over Moscow — and end this war.

Ukrainian Defense Forces attacked the Moscow Oil Refinery. As a result of the strike, all of the refinery’s primary processing capacity was damaged, along with a secondary processing unit.

According to GEOINT analysis, the AVT-6 unit, with a capacity of 7.8 million tonnes per year, and the KUPN unit, with a capacity of 6.86 million tonnes per year, are on fire. Taking both units offline would completely halt the refinery’s primary processing.

An important isomerization unit was also hit. It is essential for producing high-octane components used in AI-92 and AI-95 gasoline.
