| I realize AOL isn't the most popular ISP but I'm use to and familiar with it and don't really want to change streams right now. My question is AOL keeps having to "reconnect" after I've connected and have been online sometimes for awhile sometimes sooner. I've done the checkups and other things that AOL recommends but still have the problem. I have discovered a hum in the phone when making standard call also I assume it must be there when I'm online, it doesn't seem to be to intense but could this be what they call line noise and does anyone know how to deal with it other than a new ground rod and wire which I was instructed to do already? |

AOL is in dire financial trouble. You are probably just beind disconnected from the POP to save bandwidth. AOL is very much Internet with training wheels. I couold go on and on about security and the bulk of Internet porn originating from...well it has been beat to death already. |
This is a classic ploy by ISP's to conserve BW. Net Zero even admits it. Actually when you hook up to AOL you arent really connected to the internet. You are connected to AOL. AOL goes out on the real internet and gets what you ask for and IF they dont decide to censor it it goes back through the AOL server to you. You REALLY need to get away from them! |
