This chexsystems thing is BullShit.  I'm blacklisted from opening any new checking accounts over LITERALLY a one dollar disagreement with my bank.  ONE F'ING dollar!

Does this affect me opening a savings account????

Found a great site.....

I know what you mean. I had trouble opening an account with a couple of banks and never received a notice from Chexsystem on why I was declined. I finally tried the credit union that is associated with my employer and they call it in rather than doing it by computer. They told me that I had non sufficient funds withdrawls from a credit union I banked with a few years ago. Turns out I’d forgotten about an automatic withdrawl setup with my credit card company at the time. I wasn’t doing well financially and they had 3 attempts to withdrawl money that wasn’t there.

Long story short, I went to the credit union and paid off the $85 I owed, got a receipt with a notation from the teller saying it was paid off, went back to the new credit union I was opening an account with and got setup with a savings/checking account. I just hope I am able to still get a Visa debit card. I'll know in a week or so. Those things are too damn useful these days for purchasing things online.

Edited to add:

You might want to try Compass Bank. I don't think they use the Chexsystem. My buddy got an account there and I think he has some bad stuff on his record.

You're not "blacklisted".  ChexSystems only reports what member financial institutions report to them.  If the report is factual it will remain on your file for five years.  It's also possible to have the financial institution that made the report remove the negative info from your file.

Your beef is with the new bank that has made the account decision and not with ChexSystems.
