How many of you have above average I.Q's? **com'on now, no fibing!*** In my case, I don't know, I've never taken an I.Q. test. |
I actually have a friend that scored 155 on a real test, and let me tell you this guy is friggin waco!!!! He is a good guy though, but rarely shows his genius. There is definatly a fine line between genius and insane! |
|
Last time I took an I.Q. test I was 140, that was a few years ago, no idea what I am now. Hopefully I've gotten better at working problems out as I've gotten older. That is really what I.Q. is all about, solving problems, not "how smart" you are. I've known alot of people that were very "book smart" but had average I.Q.'s and couldn't figure out crap when it came to solving a problem. I've also known people that didn't know all that much when it came to book knowlege but could solve a problem with half of their brain tied behing their back. |
|
138 the last time I was tested. It's what shows-up on an MMPI that REALLY scares me BTW, I used to administer tests to clients in the mental-health field and found that some folks could display awesome "Crystal" IQ scores and still blow the whole thing with wrong answers to "Fluid" questions. Fluid's the more important of the two (IMHO) but you have to take them together. |
|
I've taken a couple many years ago, always 135-140. I guess that proves they are meaningless , cause I ain't that smart. I used to work with a couple of people who were in the 160 range, there's a huge difference between 140 and 160, they could make me feel really slow and dumb.If I remember correctly, if you're good at pattern matching, you'll do well on them. |
| Intelligence and book smarts are two very different issues. I looked into joining Mensa once... Lord knows why. I qualified by two standards. Having an IQ higher than 140 and SAT scored higher than I think 1250. What does that mean? Nothing really, doesn't make you a better person. I've met people who were broke but rich in character, wealthy but devoid of any redeeming virtue, as smart as Einstein but with as little social grace as Howard Dean, as dumb as a turnip but with the heart of a lion. |
Dude, how many pages is the Tax Code,LOL, why do you think H&R Block does such a large amount of business, hell, no one can figure out Taxes because they make no sense. I just get the 1040EZ, take the standard deduction and I'm done.

+1 I was tested several times in Jr High., seems they thought I had a 'learning problem'. Scored 140. ![]() |
|
Had a little problem in elementary school. They thought I was either stupid or had a learning disability. They gave me some tests in 4th and 5th grades and found out that I have no learning disability, and my IQ tested as 132 and 135. After that, they figured that I was just bored with the pedestrian ramblings of my teachers, so they promptly stuck me right back where I was and let me rot away in public school. Yay. I could care less about my IQ score except as an idle curiousity. It's not like it gets me any freebies, or helps me pickup strippers or anything. |
you're not talking to the right strippers. seriously though, has anyone taken tests years or decades apart? i'm curious as to how the QUOTIENT part (it's your age) of the test works out. age 9: score/9 = genius 8,384,875,294,021 beers later age 31: score/31 = dumbass |

Never had an IQ test. Scored well enough on the GRE to get into mensa (yes I can prove that statement so I'm not blowing smoke and no I didn't join). These scores don't really tell you much other than that your brain is good at processing information quickly. It doesn't mean shit unless you're willing to work hard. I'm living proof that you can score well on intelligence tests and still not do jack shit that's worthwhile in life. Laziness trumps intelligence. |

In college I tested at 178, though I could not tell you for the life of me which tests they used... My Mother is 154, my Father is in th e130s somewhere, both my Sisters scored above 160, how far above I do not know is IQ inherent within genes? or is it a matter of the environment within which we are raised? |
|
I test well (getting me to do the homework is an entirely different matter, though). - IQ (tested for going into the school's GATE program, no idea which test) = 148 - School standardized testing (Iowa Test of Basic Skills) = 99% every year. - SAT = 1470 (taken early Junior year) - ASVAB = 98 -Troy |
|
158 tested I.Q. 30 on ACT, but totally SUCKED on the SAT (thank god my scholarship went by ACT). I was pretty hung over for the SAT - that was the most miserable morning I can remember. I seem to remember something about I.Q. dropping with age... what was I saying??? |
Yes my IQ is 158 and I can shoot a .5 inch, 20 round group at 300 yards, offhand. ----------------------------------------------------------------------- 126 here but I manage to muddle through life. Of course I also gave a shit less about taking IQ tests in HS so who knows. Hell why don't we get an ARFCOM MENSA chapter started. Everyone here is pegging the meter!
