Dear Violence Policy Center Action Network Member:

The VPC has been very active advocating for a strengthened assault weapons ban
the past couple of week.

Last week we released a new study, "United States of Assault Weapons: Gunmakers
Evading the Federal Assault Weapons Ban."  The study documents more than 40
gunmakers who are today making and marketing legal, new assault weapons.  We
estimate that more than one million new domestic assault weapons have been made
since the 1994 federal ban took effect.  See the full study at
http://action.vpc.org/ctt.asp?u=1423191&l=48243.  See other recent VPC
activities at http://action.vpc.org/ctt.asp?u=1423191&l=48267.

The study was released at press conferences in Los Angeles and Oakland,
California with leading members of the local law enforcement community joining
us in calling on Congress to pass an effective assault weapons ban. The study's
findings starkly demonstrate why simple renewal of the current ban is inadequate
to protect public safety.

In addition, the VPC's Los Angeles office gathered more than 50 signatures from
members of the entertainment community on a letter to Congress and the President
calling for a stronger assault weapons ban. An ad with excerpts from the letter
ran this week in Roll Call, Capitol Hill's leading newspaper.  See the ad and
letter at http://action.vpc.org/ctt.asp?u=1423191&l=48242.

The expiration date for the assault weapons ban is fast approaching.

Please do what you can by forwarding this e-mail to others and urging them to
join the VPC Action Network by visiting
http://action.vpc.org/ctt.asp?u=1423191&l=48268 to spread the message that to
truly ban assault weapons, the 1994 law must not only be renewed, but more
importantly, strengthened.

As always, we appreciate your support and commitment to stopping gun violence.

And so where's all the chaos and violence at? With one million weapons produced since 1994, you'd think the nation would be in a world of shit.

They've always known. They just don't care. Gun control has nothing to do with safety; everything to do with political ideology and consolidation of power.

Screw their 50 signatures. Im getting ready to send in a petition that has more than 10,000 signatures of real people that want this thing to die.  That takes their lil 50 sig petition and kicks it in the nuts, HARD!
