This time though it's DI
no 6.5 yet though Not terrible but not chrome or nitride, 4140 steel barrel, and the rail doesn't have tabs around the upper.... apparently it has a nitride barrel and on closer look the handguard has tabs around the upper |
|
Looks a like a solid contender to the Rogue, as far as weight is concerned. I’d be interested in seeing the bolt face.

Time to start saving money for another rifle!!!! Wonder they will start to hit the shelves!!!

Their budget AR’s are solid. Their piston system was a little too heavy for my tastes but the multi caliber options was a cool concept.

Big 'ol chonky barrel because the average Ruger fan will slap on a chinese scope and hammer away with tula 308.
Another reminder that Ruger supports the ATF. |

question for you guys that shoot these .308 AR's... do they all use the same mag system?

I believe, but am likely wrong, that there are two main magazine typed as the Armalite system came out during the ban years so used FAL magazines as they were plentiful.

I would suggest waiting until after the recall to pick one up.

View Quote Armalite (and I'm sure others; RRA made something like this at one point) made large frame AR style guns with M1A mag functionality. |

Thanks for the heads up.
I was looking at the S&W M&P10 and the SIG 716. But I think this Ruger in a 16" probably has my money. |

That lower looks very DPMS G2ish. I wonder if the shrunk the guts like the G2 guns.

Is the lower a proprietary one like PSA or a DPMS style where you can get parts from Aero, etc.?

I've been saving for a 716i but would peek at the Ruger if cheap ...

Quoted: @45-Seventy, haven't you mentioned seeing POF Rogues with broken bolts before (I could be thinking of someone else)? Either way, I'm curious to know more about the internals of this one. View Quote I have… three I can think of. One is a guy I shoot 3-Gun with. He bought it specifically for a race gun due to size/weight. He’s abandoned it due and went to a standard DI system. Now the G2 system really seemed promising and I’m not familiar with widespread failures. I’m curious why it never really went anywhere. |

I absolutely LOVE, my ruger SR762, ACCURATE AS HELL ! 5 shot one hole groups no problem.
I’ll never sell it, regret selling my second one, which was just as accurate. Iv got 3 spare BCGs for it. I’ll buy another one if I ever find one reasonable. GREAT GUNS. Attached File |

YMMV but I hate it when manufacturers fuck with the magazine opening in the lower like that. First, they may think it looks "cool" but I don't. Second, that "zig-zag" cut just make it more likely for some part of a mag to get hung up on the opening.

I love what Ruger produces and I’m sure it will be quality. They’ve done great by resurrecting Marlin.
I just wish they would produce more of the lineup they offer. I would LOVE to buy a Hawkeye Hunter in an interesting caliber if they just made enough to be in stock anywhere. |
