I got one of my computers up and running again.... HAHAHAHA. I am IT master.

HAving SERIOUS 169 IP issues with other one though.

You running DHCP? Is it up? If so could be the cable or the NIC

not the cable and not the nic.

get this computer 1 has the 169 issue.
computer 2 connects with conputer 1 fine, so it can't be the NIC.
ISP can communicate with my modem, so it's not the line.
Modem was replaced this morning, so it can't be that.

A 169 means that for some reason the NIC is not communicating with the cable.  so usually physical.  But now computer 2 connects to net.
Computer 1 will still produce a 169 ip address.

so we're halfway there.....

Do you have a router/switch in the mix?  Did it ever work or is this a new computer you are trying to add to the network?  If no router/switch then maybe the modem only allows giving out one IP.

just use static IP's if you only have a couple pc's
