I am starting to feel like computer guy now. First it started with my buddies wedding, I won't go into details or all the minor things but it ended with my knee being twisted to the point I could barely walk on it. Luckily my g/f drove home parking the truck at the end of the driveway, if I had driven I would have parked it at the top where the tree fell the next morning during the storm that wiped out the power for the next two and a half days. Of course the tree did punch a few holes in the roof of the house and it did "interrupt" us as we lay in bed on the holiday weekend morning. Now since I was hobbling around with a twisted knee, no power at my house, three holes in the roof (with a minor leak from the rain) and a tree limb (Big limb, maybe 16" diameter base about 34'-40' long) blocking the front door and laying both on the house and boat I decided to spend the following night at the g/fs house..... with my dog.... and she has three dogs of her own not to mention she is watching her daughters dog while she is in DC. Yup, no rest for the beaten as we spent almost all of the next two days refereeing random dog fights all through the house and yard. Thank god this morning when I got back home the power was on. Insurance is covering the damamge and I think I will even have enough left over (I will do most of the repairs myself) to get started on that .308 garand project I have been thinking about. Oh, the boat looks fine, no cracks or serious scratches, the roof is at least patched for now and the tree is almost completely hauled off. I still need to pull off the old gutter and replace it but that ain't much. Yup, a hell of a weekend. |
