I may get a trip there this August. What's there, besides cell phones and drunk Finns?

Female armpit hair and enough beer to make it O.K. with you.

I understand that shooting and hunting are very popular there. The Lapua plant is supposedly a wonder to behold. In my limited experience, the people are very friendly, so it might be worth trying to chum up a shooter over the net to take you out while you're there.

I realize this is an absurdly long shot, but can you buy a Sako in Finland and take it back to the US?

Sauna and vodka.   (oh and don't bring clothes to the sauna - people will laugh at you)

That's all you need

There's a pretty good Military museum (including lots of stuff from WW2, between Finland and Russia). in Helsinki.  They had some modern Valmet AK's in a display case too, and a couple cool WW2 tanks as well.

If you're really into history, get on a train for a few hours and check out some of the ancient castles there.  I went to one called Savolinna, built in the middle of a wide river, with a ferry to it, and music festivals in the summer.

I'm sure you'll find plenty to do in Helsinki, being summer and all.  Lots of blondes to oogle, and real ones at that.  And like Norway, going topless isn't a big deal in public parks.

I was in Helsinki in 99 and I thought it was...OK.  A little boring unless you have a purpose or people to hang out with.  I found the people to be pretty low key and a few gave me the impression they felt left out of the loop as far as world interests go.  The best thing I did was get a train ride to St. Petersburg (2-3 hrs).  Holy wonderful pretty women batman!  I really felt Russia had so much more culture, things to do, and was more American friendly.  If I were to do it again, I would have just stayed in St. Petersburg for my entire trip.  (BTW, if your single, in Russia you can easily have a few beautiful women give you tours of the city.  (I had four tours by different chicks)  However, if your married, just stay in Helsinki.

A couple pictures:

How big of a deal is it for an American to cross over into Russia? Any visas needed, or can you just show up at the border crossing with your passport?
