how many of your oldest friends do you still keep in touch with/see any amount of time/hang out with, etc?

was just wondering as i scrolled down my phonebook and saw that at LEAST 85% of my HS and college friends live nowhere near me anymore.  some of my best friends still keep in touch with me but we still talk very damn seldom and see each other less than that.  from HS i've kept in touch with probably my two best friends, and one lives in houston with his fiancee and i see him about 3 times a year now.  the other lives in san antonio and i see him 6 or 7 times a year.

its pretty damned sad, ive tried and tried but i can't seem to ever get us all down here at the same time..............although that would probably end us up in jail, we got so damn lucky in HS to NOT go to jail our luck is bound to be run out by now

I still live pretty close to where I grew up, and I still run into a few of my friends. I still keep in
touch with two or three that I was close with, but that's about it.

I know what you mean about having problems catching up with folks. One of the guys that I was
best friends with got married not too long ago, and I don't know what the new wife's deal is, but
she's definitely got him whipped. I haven't seen him since the wedding.

The guys I can most rely on, and call "friend" these days, were met through internet boards just like AR15.com

Last time I talked to any of my friends from Michigan was right after I moved.  In 2001.

None really. I'm thousands of miles away in another country. We do hook up now and then but its not like we're in touch.

One.

I'm in SC, and my best friend is in AK.  We've been friends since the mid-70s.

We e-mail almost daily and call ocassionally.  I'd like to be able to go shooting with him each week, but...

None really, I have cut my need for friends down to 2....they are my best friends and I know, without a shadow of a doubt that if I call them at 3 in the morning and I need them, that they will be here...

Most of my old friends are useless bone sacks....

We’ll, I guess I’m just lucky.

I have a bunch of friends I’ve known for 30 years or so, and one I’ve known since I was 10 - that’s 42 years ago.

These things tend to go in cycles - a few years of close contact followed by a few years of greater distance.

The older you get, the shorter the cycles.

Don’t write off your old friends too early in life. You’ll be surprised by what the future holds.

I hated all the ass holes I went to High School with.  I'm sure that don't like me either.  I don't care.  Most of them are dead or in jail.

They all can kiss my ass.

I only have a about four real friends.  My brother, my wife and my motorcycle riding buddies (2).

I haven't really met anyone from AR15.com yet.  Maybe I’ll get to a shoot and gain more friends.  Maybe some people that will hate me.  Oh well.

That is all.

None really. I don't have any contact with any of the people I went to highschool with. The friends I have now, I'm closer with than any of the friends I had back then.

You have to be old to have old friends.

Funny that you bring this up at this time. Today I had a friend that I had only seen twice since graduation (1983) show up at my door. I didn't even recognize him. We keep in touch by e-mail now that he lives in Arkansas but there's nothing like seeing an old friend in person. It's turning out to be a really good weekend.

I've lost touch with my high school friends - but my excuse is that they are spread all over the world (my four good friends from high school are currently in Israel, Sweden, Finland and England).

My oldest friend is an army buddy.  We were recruits together, we went to sergeant's school together, we went to officer's school together - and we would hang out when we were off duty.  We both see the other as a brother, and nothing can come between us.  We've been living on separate continents for 14 years now, but we still email each other almost every day.

Obviously, we don't get to see each other too much, but he's trying to come over this summer, and I'm going to see him this Christmas, when I go back to the old country.

I still hang out with my best friend from kindergarten.  Not as much as we used to, but we try to get together once a month or so.

I do something just about every other weekend with a friend from high school.  We weren't that good of friends in school, but over the last year or so, we've become very close.

I try to hang out with my best friend from high school as much as possible.  Hasn't been that easy since he got married and started building a house though.

I might see my old hunting buddy from school twice a year.  We don't run in the same circles anymore.  I hate it, but what are you going to do?

There are only a couple of friends from high school that I don't see as much as I would like.  We just never made an effort to keep in touch.  Need to get their email addy's and hook up some time.

10 year high school graduation anniversary is coming up next year, doubt we'll have a reunion.

My oldest friends go back to 7th grade (1977) I see them a couple of times a year, I talk to them a few more times.  My oldest friend from adulthood goes back about 21 years when we met in the USMC.

ya, its a real bitch thinking about how well you got along with somebody and yet, you never see them anymore..............

case in point:  went to school, 8th grade through HS graduation with a guy that transferred here from PA, we were great friends, hung out all the time, fucked up in class (we're both smartass no good bastards and i give him all the credit for being the best of the two) but after graduation he went no telling where and his parents moved back to PA so i havent been able to track him down and havent talked to him since and i'd love to get to hang out with that bastard just one more time.................
