So my dad wants me to put all our home videos on to dvds. I have a VCR so I need: 1.a better video card with video in 2.a program to capture and encode the video to something like Divx 3.a program to burn said video to DVD compatable format 4.a DVD burner 5.blank DVDs do you guys have any suggestions? acually I already have Nero on the computer I'm adding this stuff to. So I will just need the plugin to make it work with DVDs. so that takes care of 3 |
A DVD burner $99 PCI firewire card. $30 and most any Video Camera w/ firewire and a dubing input will work, just connect your vcr to it. You can use Windows Movie Maker if you have Xp, I dont know if it makes DVDs tho. I use Sony's Vegas program w/ DVD creator, incredible program. Nero is powerfull too, once you have that DVD burner Nero gives you more options |

umm no video camera to go through. I'm thinking plug the VCR into the computer. hit play and have the video digitised. Our videos are so old we don't have the camera anymore. I'm going to walk into best buy tomarrow and ask them what I need but I'm hoping you guys can tell me enough so I can make an informed dissision |

You could get a firewire card, but you'd still need a converter to change the analog signal to DV. I'd suggest a card that can do analog video as well as DV. Canopus and ADS come to mind. That should include whatever software you need to capture the video, and might even have DVD authoring tools, though your Nero should be able to handle DVD authoring. Check out www.videohelp.com for lots of info. |
