I just finnished hot water blueing a double barrel 12 ga muzzle loader barrel.Had cut it down to 13",trued and smooth the front of the barrel and all that other good stuff. The blue job came out pretty good my first time at it . I had plastic gloves on and was putting on a good coat of oil and then it happened. It slipped out of my hands onto the concrete rough finished floor muzzle first. All that work and now I have to start over again.I am going to drink a couple of beers and maybe look at it in a few days.

Let me put it in perspective for you... If this is the WORST thing that happened to you today, You are doing allright. I say BS! You are so proud of what you did, you WANTED to do it again subconsciencely...did I spell that right? Honestly though... I feel for ya.... I have when you put your heart and soul into something and then crap like that happens. |
| I guess I will recrown it and hope to just touch up the blue.The breech plug where it treads to the barrel the blue did not take. Must have been some oil seeping thru those treads.Will post pics of it once I redo the barrel.Then I have to decide if I want to cut the stock shorter .The side plates and tang are chrome plated which takes away from it to be a stage coach shotgun.I guess I will learn how todeplate chrome so I can blue it. One step at a time. |
