Ok here is a fun one. Seems the company I work for is doing random drug tests now. About a year or two ago we got a memo that we had to sign saying we read and understood it. It was a new drug/testing policy. In it it gave pre employment, work related accident, and one other reason. It said nothing about random drug tests. So if I get called into the office to take one, can I, based on the copy of the drug policy that I last signed as being aware of and having recieved, say no to taking a random drug test and not have to worry about getting fired for refusing.

I'm not worried about having to take one, but if they pop one on me I really do want to tell them no I'm not taking it as it is not a part of the drug policy that I was last made aware of. I don;t like shit like that getting changed and than not being made aware. I think thats wrong. You don;t just change the rules of the game and not let the participants on both sides know.

If you have a problem with the policy, you would do much better to take it up with your employer NOW, rather than when they ask for your piss.   That way you'll have at least some chance of arguing the change in policy, rather than the fact that you are refusing the test.

is it a private company?   seems like they can do whatever they want, including firing you for not taking drug tests.    you want to earn your paycheck, do what the company wants.   you want to fight unfair work practices, get a law degree.

seems like you have been made aware of the policy, if it was office rumor mill source i would go to the boss and ask him whats up with the change in policy?

BTDT, as a manager and lost.  If challenged legally, you can only get an employee to sign a receipt.

Still amazed at that!

I asked my boss what was up but got no answer.

The reason why I know they are doing randoms is because they pulled two of my officers from posts today just to test them.  And they pulled another one from a post a couple months back to test her.

I asked back than if it was a new policy and was told nothing. I asked again today and got nothing. Course thats about the way shit goes around here aska question and it takes a couple weeks to months to get a damn answer.
