| Man this thing is dragging on. Whats with no rain tires? Bikes run in the rain, F1 runs in the rain. WTF? |
Rain tires won't stick in a 20 deg banked turn at those speeds. Turn 1 is also the last turn when the F1 cars are there, and though they are some 100 mph slower at that point they are STILL scary when its wet. Bikes and F1 also have run off room when they go off, and even winning cars often go off in the wet on road courses. But that would bring massive wall contact on a oval. And IMHO a IRL car is not really a safe racing vheicle in the dry because of the speeds they reach and their small size. The lack of grip and the roostertails in the pack would make racing them in the wet suicide. The one "oval" I have seen that racing in the rain might be possible is Motegi in Japan- because it is actually a couple of turns of a road course that have been connected with a pair of streightaways. Pocono even has too much banking in its first and second turns to use rain tires on. |
