I grew up in the 60's. The average show had between 30 and 39 new episodes/year. The average number of reruns the average show aired during the summer was between 12 and 14. VCRs weren't even a dream. Shows going into syndication/reruns in the years to come was spotty, hit/miss, and depended on whether or not the show lasted a bare minimum of 3 seasons to have enough shows in the vault to make syndication viable. That meant: If you got home late, or missed an episode of F-Troop, (for example), the odds were pretty good you'd never have the chance to see it, ever. Those were dark times indeed, my brothers. |
