One hazard of hanging out in these boards and looking at everyone's pics lately is I am wanting a new AR now. When I first started logging in here I was always thinking, "Why would you need more than one AR?" Now I know.

I'm thinking about ditching my Springfield SAR-8 and my Ruger P-89. I think I should be able to pull in about $1,000+ for the two, which I can turn around and sink into a new AR.

Based on my expected budget I'm thinking RRA might be the choice, but I'm asking for some help. I want to avoid buying a rifle with a bunch of crap I already intend to change out.

Things I definitely want:
- ACE stock m4 SOCOM (in prep for the sunset)
- G-27 Tactical AR15 Grip w/ storage compartment
- 4 rail handguards (maybe Surefire M73 or YHM)
- Flattop receiver & gas block

For this rifle I'm not worried as much about an HBAR or free float handguards. I figure I'll shoot for simplicity to keep the cost down a bit.

So, up to this point... is it possible?

Depending on price, I would also like to get a (Tango Down) vertical foregrip for this one. Flashlight and optics will have to wait for now. I might hold off and shoot for the Surefire M9000A Millenium foregrip though.
I can probably even wait on flip up sights since I can pull them off my BM once I get my CQ/T on there.

How do you think sales will change when the sunset goes into effect?

Do you think prices will go up, down, stay the same but everyone will be buying them up so they can trick them out without any stupid laws getting in the way?

I would expect that all the guys selling their pre-bans right now will find the prices they are asking for them after the sunset won't fly.

I think that prices will spike right after the sunset, for the simple reason of supply and demand.  10 years of new AR owners will want the evil features, and the supply will not be adaquate, since most dealers don't have 10,000 collapsable stocks and 20,000 flash suppressors on hand.  But, after the initial rush dies down, the prices should stabilize, to what we are normally accustomed to right now, except everything will be fair game.  However, I don't think we are going to see any new AR mags for sale anytime soon, since the military is in a "war state" right now, and are probably buying new mags like crazy, with old ones being reconditioned and reissued.

One suggestion, I would get a pre-ban Bushmaster Superlight 16" barrel assembly right now.  The barrel rocks, and makes the balance so nice, the way its supposed to be.  Buy it, and stuff it in a closet till after the sunset.

Do you think that people are already starting to buy the evil stocks? I know I'm thinking about it.

I would think that because people will be jumping on the evil ones that the prices right after sunset will drop on the rifles still set up as post ban... guess it's hard to guess until it happens. Does anyone know which parts companies have stock you can buy? I looked for BM and Armalite stocks but couldn't find any...

As far as collapsable stocks go, RRA makes a pretty good one, and for ~$70, its a steal.  ADCO, Pete at Legal Transfers, and Eagle Firearms all have them.  I know I'm already starting to buy parts, since I don't want to wait 6 months after the sunset (and also cause I rebuilt my pre-ban into a more evil AR [:D]).
