I've got a "pre-ban" 590 that I'd like to cutomize.  Any ideas, pictures or links would be appreciated.

Thanks!

Get a Sure-Fire fore-end with a tacical light (you willl have to remove the bayonet lug), some ghost-ring sights, maybe a side saddle shell holder, a good recoil pad, and an ass load of ammo to practice with= you are set!

Cheers

590A1, Ghost Ring, Speedfeed, sidesaddle, Surefire, Giles Sling.

19 rounds of "Good, bad, I'm the one with the gun" fun.

The ban has no effect on pump shotguns, only semi-auto.

I had a Surefire forend for an 870 and after shooting heavy buckshot loads all day the part that drops down to hold the light would end up bruising my left index finger.  Maybe no big deal to some, but I'll pursue other light options in the future.  I've thought of mounting an M-3X to my 870.

The Side-Saddle is a must.

I prefer a bead sight.  If I want rifle sights, I'll pick up a rifle.

Extension, decent sling, Side-Saddle, a light.

Do all the 590 models have the bayonet lug, or just the heavy barrel A1 model?

I have a standard barrel and it has the bayonet lug...my brother's heavy does too.  So I would assume they all do!

Don't have one yet, but I have started a shopping list for accessories:

First:

Butler creek folding stock: http://www.uncle-mikes.com/adtemplate.asp?invky=9007904&catky=1513485&subcatky1=4548839&subcatky2=2000242

Also the single point sling attachment. Think it's from gggaz, IIRC.

Also some sort of forend light. Haven't decided on which one it would be yet.

The last I checked, surefire makes a forend whitelight just for the 590 WITH bayonet lug where the light is mounted on the left. there is no reason to remove the bayonet lug. My bedside rig is pretty much like airwolf's. Mrs. El gets the SEAK while me and Krypto clear the house.

I hate that stock.  Its ugly and the reach for the trigger pull is horrible!

Mossberg 590
Bayo lug left on
Factory Ghost Ring rear sight
Meprolite trijicon front sight
Heat shield
Star-Tac Side Saddle
Star-Tac Buttstock saddle
Xenon Tac light w/ pressure switch
Mossberg "Quiet Rail System" slide rails
Oversize Safety
Stainless Steel Marine Mag Spring

The only thing I want to do is Vang Comp it. That'll be next on my list. The pic was taken before I put on the buttstock sidesaddle too. The slide is smooth as glass..Can even do it single handed...

You don't like SpeedFeed stocks?  That's what's on there.

The reach for the trigger isn't an different than any AR I own.  I am 6'2" and have large hands so it's definitely not an issue for me.  My wife is 5'3" and has petite hands and it isn't an issue (or even a stretch) for her either.

I like these stocks. I tried one on my mossy and I had a real difficult time reaching the slide release by the trigger guard. I had to leave the trigger and turn the gun to the side. Not good in an "Oh Shit!" situation. So, I kept the factory stock.

Cavalry arms is on the brink of releasing an Ar15 stock adaper for 500/590 that includes somesort of way to manipulate the saftey w/ either thumb or index finger w/o changing grip.  Then you put whatever grip or stock on it you want and you have an inline stock and a optics rail.

It will be out soon.

I have the 500 marine w/ surefire  3 rail forend onto which I put my Surefire M900 w/ SWAN levers; THE MOST EXPENSIVE VERTICAL GRIP KNOWN TO MAN.  I recommend the M900 set up b/c you can use it on all your tactical weapons, instead of tying up all that money permanantly on your foreend.

BTW, you should probably have put this on the shotgun forum on the Armory page dude.

Also, it is a tactical mistake to have a pistol grip stock like those pictured here on a mossy w/ a tang safety.  Well, maybe it isn't so bad if you include an extended saftey, but still, it would be kind of like carrying a 1911 cocked and locked w/ only a right hand safety and haveing to shoot it w/ your left hand.

I dumped the bayonet lug on mine in favor of a 9V SureFire. I figured the chance of needing a light was much greater than the chance of needing a bayonet..

I'm picking up a 590 this week (20" bbl, 9-rd mag, ghost ring sights).  I'm planning on adding a Knoxx recoil reducing stock and a light (haven't decided on which light yet).  Here's a 10-rd drum mod:
