I find the prospect of Bigfoot interesting, although like most of you I seriously doubt they exist, but I'll try to keep and open mind. What is the strangest/most frightening exprience you've had in the woods?

I've only heard one piece of evidence that could even slightly make me believe that Bigfoot really exists. It was a documentary about the creature on the Discovery channel or TLC. A "bigfoot hunter" found a few strands of hair stuck to a tree trunk(he attributes this to bigfoot's habit of rubbing it's back against the trees). Several "scientists" that tested the hairs were interviewed. They said that the hairs came from no known living creature, but that they came from some sort of primate. It sounds compelling, yet I wonder why only one TV-show has spoken of these hairs. If it was really such a huge find that proved his existence, I assume it would have made headlines. Still, I won't rule anything out.

I could find weird hairs in my house if I looked hard enough.

I thought I saw BigFoot once.  I was hunting and it was starting to get late.  I decided to head back to camp and on the way back I heard a grunting and growling sound.  I stopped and kneeled down and started to survey my surroundings.  Through the trees I could see a furry creature standing on two legs but couldn't quite make it out.  My first thought was holy shit it's BigFoot.  So I took a look at it through the binocs and was disappointed to see a big ass bear standing on it hind legs scratching its back on a tree.  Strange thing to see.  I have never seen a bear do that before.

Kaotic,
Do you think most "bigfoot" sightings are actually bears?

The BFRO site is regarded as serious.

If you want a genuine laugh, try www.bigfootforums.com

And this site seems to have a mixture of both:

I stumbled onto these when I saw a post, either here or at Sigforum.com about: "Which caliber to use on Bigfoot?"

There's actually a lot of "Bigfoot" sites, a lot of them are regional. After I stumbled onto the Bigfootforums I started researching them and was kinda surprised.
Some of these sites have supposed recordings of Bigfoots and they kinda make the hair on the back of your neck stand up. If I ever heard that kinda shit while I was camping, I'd be in Defcon 4 in record time.

It is possible that a lot of BF sightings are bears or other animals in the woods.  I will tell you this, that several times while hunting or camping out in the boonies of the Pacific Northwest myself and friends have heard some wierd noises like I nothing I have ever heard.  Bizarre scream like noises.  Like a gorilla makes but different.  It is hard to describe.  It is something you have to hear for yourself, and the first time you hear it you about shit yourself.  I'm not saying it is BF but it is something strange.

If you were asked to go on a bigfoot expedition, would you go? and what supplies, guns and friends(guys/girls you can rely on) would you take along?

black: Hmmm...that's a tough one-but the only tough part is picking who to go with me, as there's a select few I'd trust to watch my 6.

If I could talk those two or three into going with me, I'd arm one of us with a .45-70(up close & personal work), one of us with a 300WinMag(reach out and touch one), and one of us with a fast-shootin' .308(midrange self-defense weapon) and 357mags minimum for sidearms.I'm figuring these things might have a decent layer of body fat, so I want the best penetration IF we need to use the handguns.

Backpacks, and enough supplies for 5 days, to be re-supplied by cache, horse, truck meet or helo in order to stay out longer. Satphone to call in a helo if/when we dropped one of them. Digital video cams. Binocs, NVDs.

I love going to those websites!
I really like the ones that are broken up by region/state or even county.
There are some stories that are pure BS but some really spook me!
I have a biology background so I'm not some ignorant kook. I REALLY believe in bigfoot!

I especially like reading OLD accounts of travelers and explorers that would have NO modern influence. I remember reading one account of a "happening" that occured in the Okefenokee Swamp several hundred years ago. I remember there being several folks killed.
Who knows, even if they do not exist it makes for some fine reading!

Everyone take a deeeeep breath and repeat after me - There is no Bigfoot.

The guy who took that "Famus Photo" admitted he and a buddy made it up, total BS.

People want there to be a Bigfoot, so they make excuses to See one.  Any sighting of a bear froma distance is "bigfoot".

Strudle54,
Most of us here would agree with you that Bigfoot does not exist. yet as someone else mentioned, it makes for great reading!  Remember the the Pacific Northwest is a HUGE  area and not telling what's in there.

Yes I agree - While it is enjoyable to read about "encounters" people have had w/ Bigfoot, they are fiction.

Now, if I were to go on a bigfoot "hunt" I'd go w/ nothing less then a .308 [:)]  I think my FAL would do the trick.

i assume you are talking about the paterson video? and not a photograph.
where did you hear he admitted he faked it ?
to my knowledge there is no such admission.
i did see a documentary where a large man who claimed to be a friend of patterson said he helped fake the video, but he could be full of shit too.
the interesting thing is modern tech cant replicate or disprove a video using mid-1960s technology.
to me it does NOT look like a man in a gorilla suit, even modern movie make up artists still havent been able to match it, and recreations look like a gorilla suit.

im not saying they do exist, but there is more scientific proof saying they do, than there is saying they dont.
