Hi,
This is my first post on this board. I was wondering if any of you have heard of the Double Star Ar-15. I just purchased one and according to the dealer it is all Colt Mfg parts
and every bit as good. Its an M4 config with 16 inch heavy barrel, a2 sights. any comments would be appreciated.

Yes I have........The double star lower was a J&T Distributing lower buy.  Since the seller claims it's Colt parts, it's most likely a kit rifle from J&T which uses a Colt trigger assembly.  The upper is most likely also J&T which is a 4150 chrome moly 1/9 twist not chromed barrel.

Here's a link to their site:

For what it is worth, IMHO J&T makes some of the best build it yourself kits on the market, however the sellers claim that it is every bit as good as a Colt is an exaggeration.

Still if assembled properly it's a fine rifle.

Note that in comparing prices listed on the site, the kits do not include the lower which sells separately for $100-$130.  The uppers do come assembled and head spaced but the you have to assemble the lower.

TomJefferson: Awww c'on my man, easy on the guy, we'er all friends here.

I've don't have a Double-star lower, but I have dealt with J&T Dist and they were good to me.  J&T probably contracted out to some company to make x amount of these receivers, my guess possibly Oly Arms. As for uppers, since they're not controlled item, it is probably just some of their off-the-shelf items.

I would like to say that Colt probably doesn't make the internal parts to their AR, they probably buy most it from an outside vendor/mfg'r after testing a few to be sure that it meets their specs.

LOL, didn't know I was harsh............my last line apprently was a vane attempt at humour to get him to view the survival forum.

The point is there isn't a double star rifle line. There are double star lowers floating around which tells me it is most likely a kit. The lowers I've seen have been of excellent quality.  The Colt trigger assembly is a trademark of Colt and btw a fine trigger assembly.  All of it leads me to believe it is a kit rifle most likely J&T since J&T uses Colt triggers and the double star lower is not sized for a Colt pin upper.

BTW, my J&T kit rifle is one of my favs and definately my most acurate.

BTW2, welcome to the home of the "Black Rifle Fever".
