Ok, I am having trouble finding the information I need.  My parents just switched from aol to cable last week.  The problem is that they have (2) seperate email accounts.  I can' figure out how to actually seperate their 2 accounts within Microsoft Outlook 2003(Windows XP).  I have both accounts on there fine, but both accounts are using the same inbox.  That's what they want seperated, so one can check their email without checking the other's.  They had AOL before, and they used separte accounts, they want that sort of feel with their new email now, but for the life of me I can't find any directions telling me how to go about this.  I found a couple of pages through google talking about doing pretty much what I am wanting in Outlook Express, but nothing for regular Outlook 2003 yet.

I am quite perplexed at this moment.  I have several accounts on my home comp and my work comp, but I never have had any problems with them all being in one place.  But the parents want it to be easier, like AOhell was.

If there is no way of doing what they are wanting in regular Outlook 2003, is there maybe a freeware email program out there that will?  Any help would be greatly appreciated.

You can create new inboxes(inbox-Dad - inbox-Mom) and create a rule that moves incoming mail to the appropriate inbox. It will still use the same Outlook, only Dad checks his inbox, Mom checks hers. It will also send email out 'from' each address.

Hope this helps.

Create two profiles (control panel -> mail -> show profiles) and specify mail settings for each profile.

You'll need to go into outlook and turn on the "choose profile" when starting outlook option.

You can also set up different profiles "within" Outlook so that it prompts you for whatever profile you want to use when you start it. Each profile can have diffent and multiple e-mail addresses.

Right mouse click on the desktop outlook icon, choose "properties" and it will bring up a new window with different options including profiles.

Alrighty, now we're getting somewhere.  Thanks guys, great help.

The seperate inboxes would work great, if I can figure out this rules wizard thing.  It's not letting do what I'm wanting it to do though.  I'm probably missing something...obviously.

The user profile within Outlook sounds like the deal to go with for them.  I just looked it over, and it looks like that'll work just fine.  Thanks for the quick help!

you can use outlook express(xp has version 6) to set up different Identities. Its under the file tab. You then configure each Identity with its own accounts.

after outlook express is set up you can import the setting from outlook express though if they are not using any of the other functions of outlook I would just keep them in Outlook Express.

Are they sharing the same log on or do they have there own log ons on XP?

They share the system log-on, and I really don't want to change that up on them (you have no idea how long it took to get them to understand how to use and log on to aol, and that's about as simple as it gets).

As far as Outlook Express is concerned, I don't believe they have it on their computer.  They are running XP Pro, and I don't remember seeing Express anywhere.  I will look for Express tonight when I go back over to their house to finish.  Your right though, they do not need all the functions that Outlook 2003 provides.  Thanks.
