Just passing this on FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE: February 24, 2004 CONTACT: Bob Taylor: [email protected] Launching Drive To Remove A.G. Bill Lockyer SACRAMENTO--U.S. Senate candidate Howard Kaloogian (website: www.HowardForSenate.com) and People’s Advocate leader Ted Costa have joined forces again in a recall movement, this time aimed at California Attorney General Bill Lockyer for his failure to defend the laws he was elected to uphold. Kaloogian and Costa, the original promoters of the historic Recall Gray Davis effort, Tuesday launched a new recall drive directed at Lockyer for neglecting his duty to enforce state laws governing marriage. “The Attorney General is clearly abdicating his responsibility to uphold the laws of the State of California, and he should recalled for his malfeasance in office concerning the social and legal fiasco taking place in San Francisco,” said Kaloogian and Costa in a joint statement “The attorney general’s foot-dragging in this matter is unacceptable and is justification for the public to express their frustration through the recall process. We intend to move forward expeditiously to put another recall measure on the ballot,” they said. Kaloogian said Lockyer is ignoring voter-approved Proposition 22, which passed in 2000 by over 60 percent. Proposition 22 clarified state law by stating that “only marriage between a man and a woman will be valid or recognized in California.” “For 11 days the attorney general has fiddled while the legal turmoil has dragged on in San Francisco. His inaction amounts to malfeasance.” Kaloogian said. “The public has a right to expect the Attorney General to enforce the laws.” “Lockyer is finally “talking” about taking action, but talk is not enough. Last year, Governor Davis had every opportunity to stop the recall by responding to the fiscal crisis and acting; he didn’t. Lockyer has the same opportunity now, and we hope the lesson is clear – don’t abdicate your responsibility and ignore your duty to the people of California,” Kaloogian and Costa concluded. Kaloogian and Costa—whose joint efforts resulted in removing Gray Davis from office—began gathering signatures Tuesday on a notice of intent to recall petition. |

this is GOOD NEWS. i been thinking lately that the gay marriage thing is doing more harm than good for the liberals in kali. you are pissing off the people who voted for the prop 22, 60% of the voters. now they are more likely to swing their votes SLIGHTY to the conservative side, so we might gain a few more good guys in the upcoming elections. more than likely the recall for the AG will NOT work, but thats OK ... cuz lockyer must SPEND MONEY to fight the recall. the more he spends on this, the less he has to campaign for another seat in kali. this is how roberti of 1989 AW ban fame was kept from winning a major political seat, and now is out of politics altogether or holds minor a seat out and away from kali politics where he can do any real harm. if we boot lockyer then we win, if we lose the recall then hes gonna be a few bucks short and we are a step closer to getting a better AG, and keeping lockyer out of any major political seat in kali. sort of a win win for the good guys. in reality lockyer should/could send DOJ agents to frisco and have them arrest every married couple, and every person involved in the issuing of marriage licenses, and the mayor himself. the city of frisco is also exactly the county of frisco as well, and the county deals with the issuance of marriage licenses, so the mayor has no power whatsoever to glance over any county law or tell any county worker how to do their job (unless the frisco mayor holds power over the county and they dont have county supervisors). the whole issue is out of his hands, and the county supervisors should be bitch-slapping him for trying to go over their heads |
