Hey guys, lend me a hand. Our Fire Chief is a former marine. In spite of this disability [JOKE!], we try to humor him, even though he comes up with some wierd stuff now and again, claiming his "military training" as an excuse (even though it was 20+ years ago). One of his latest interests is in our uniform nametags, which have been traditionally worn on the right breast of the shirt, centered over the R pocket, bottom of the tag even with the top hem of the pocket flap. A few years ago, we started getting "serving since" tags, that ride below the regular rectangular tage, and add 1/4" or so to the height of the tag. We just adjusted the tags up slightly - no problem. He suddenly wants us to pin the tag at the flap hem, so the tag is half on and half off of the pocket. Besides restricting use of the pocket, it looks like crap. Can anyone point me towards a uniform FM/TM or some such that covers nametages and attachments? I know we're different than .mil, because we wear the tags above rather that on the pocket, but I need ammo to "suggest" reverting to the old style. I can't find anything in my library, or online (that's useful), so I turn to the info freeks here at ARFCOM. Thanks in advance, T7 |

from http://www.marcorsyscom.usmc.mil/sites/mcub/PAGES/Uniform%20Regs%20Chapters/Chapter%203_files/Chapter%203.htm (MCO P1020.34G MARINE CORPS UNIFORM REGULATIONS) Paragraph 3019.4: The nametag will be centered 1/8 inch above the right breast pocket on uniforms with such pockets and in the same general position on uniforms that do not have pockets. On the female service coat with slanted pockets, a horizontal line tangent to the highest point of the pocket will be considered the top of the pocket. I need to get a life.... |
| I would think that your agency head gets to dictate internally how the uniform gets worn.... unlike the military, which has its regulations fairly defined and hard-to-change.Might be one of those things where you just have to suck it up. BTW, we wear our pins exactly the way you describe, and I don't see where it restricts access to the pocket, unless thats one huge serving-since pin you guys are using! |
