I sent this letter to both of my senators, Lott and Cochran.  I believe both of them are fairly pro-gun so I'm interested to see their response.

Your support of S.659 and the removal of S.1034

Senator Cochran Sir,

I am a resident of Jackson, MS and an honorably discharged Marine Corps veteran. This is my first time writing to a representative of my home state. The reason I am contacting you is to inquire as to your support or lack thereof on bill S.659 which prohibits lawsuits against lawful firearms manufacturers. I wish to know how you stand regarding this legislation.

Also, I wish to share with you some credible information that relentless anti-gun politicians wish to fool the senate. Senators Dianne Feinstein, Chuck Schumer, Lincoln Chafee, Barbara Boxer, Dick Durbin, Frank Lautenberg, Jack Reed, and Edward Kennedy have sponsored an attachment to S.659 which would repeal the sunset of the Assault Weapons Ban passed in 1994 and enact other restrictions on the Constitutional right to keep and bear arms as guaranteed by the 2nd. Amendment. This rider, S.1034, is purportedly attached to S.659 with the hopes that it will be passed without being noticed. I ask you, sir, to do everything within your power to prevent this rider from passing through the Senate.

As well as upholding the Constitution in these matters, I ask you to please vote against the renewal or strengthening of the Assault Weapons Ban in all further attempts. The Assault Weapons Ban has done nothing to prevent or reduce crime in our country. The ban has succeeded only in restricting law-abiding gun owners from possession of certain firearms. The Assault Weapons Ban must die, Mr. Senator. It is an unconstitutional, experimental law which has been proven ineffective.

Thank you for your time and I look forward to your response.

Well, how'd I do?
