Two years ago I convinced my sister-in-law to learn how to shoot.  I started with the .22 bolt action, moved to the AR, and then on to a 9mm Glock.  We did all this in 4 range outings.  Then she attended the required CCW class.  Well she never followed up and asked for any more range sessions, or actually got the CCW.  She has not bought a weapon either.  Well out of the blue this morning she calls me and asks “where is the building the issues the CCW’s? I am heading over there this morning.”  Wow!

And all this on the heals of yet an other possible convert.  My Wife and I were having dinner this weekend with one of her friends and boyfriend.  Wife’s friend is a granola hippie chick huge into the out doors.  She asks me over dinner if I think its appropriate if she wanted to carry a gun while on wilderness hikes by herself.  I about spit out my food!  “Yes” I replied, “it’s appropriate”.  She has concerns over the growing cougar population here in the North West.  Her boyfriend then says all she needs is a .22.  I respectfully disagreed and recommended a .38 at a minimum.  He thought that was “way too much gun” to carry in the woods…  I invited her to join me at the range to try out different types of handguns to see what she liked.  We’ll see if she follows through.

Gentlemen there is hope.  American Women from all walks of life are realizing they don’t have to live in fear of criminals or predatory animals.  I’ll tell you these two ladies are the LAST people I thought would come around.  Reason is winning out over unfounded fear of firearms.
