That's right. As of today I am no longer using Postal service and switching to Fedex. Here example of a service provided by USPS. -Mailed M.O. for stuff I bought on E-bay. Took them 10 'business' days to deliver my priority mail. E-bay seller gave me negative feedback, after waiting a week. -Gentleman mailed a M.O. to me for AR15 part I sold. It took him 6 business days for priority mail delivery. -I mailed $1000 M.O. for HK rifle parts buyer returned. Took 10 business days for priority mail. Buyer thought I was commiting a fraud and threatned to sue me in mean while. All these happened in last 2 weeks period. After X-mas rush was beginning to be over. None of these mails were traceable, and none of the postal workers were able to help me, other than making such comments as: "There is nothing we can do." "It is not traceable." "We really don't know what happened." " I just work here." I suggest everyone that if you are mailing anything of importance (such as payment). I suggest you use Fedex or UPS. As USPS has no gurantee, service, nor tracking ability. |

UPS, USPS, Fed-ex, doesn't matter... They all suck when something goes wrong, it's just a matter of who you get stuck with. I've had packages lost through USPS and UPS, and both were horrible encounters. UPS was the slightly worse experience since the customer service lady actually laughed at my predicament. I've never had a problem with Fed-ex, but I suppose I've just been lucky so far. |

USPS is always soooo slooooow during the holidays. It took a while for them to catch up last year when we were doing a lot of priority mail transactions. It did suck. However, UPS SUCKS ALL THE TIME. I have had bad experiences with all the carriers as well, but UPS is the absolute worst. ZERO customer service. What can SHIT BROWN do for me? FOAD! |

USPS is not really traceable. When I track priority mail # online, it only shows when it was received, but never tells you anything until it is delivered. So for 10 days, I had no idea where the mail was or weather it was getting there or not. My business have UPS account and I've shipped average 50 packages per day during holiday. Not one mistake or a delay. Since two years I've been in business they've made one single delivery mistake. The rest of the thousands of packages, if not tens of thousands all made deliveries in time. Not to mention that UPS gives you exact update on where your package is. |

Quoted: use deivery confirmation for the extra .40 and you can track anything through usps. mike Yep'er, I found this out the hard way after they lost a $90 christmas gift year before last..., ya mean "IF I PAID AN EXTRA 40 CENTS, YOU'D HAVE BEEN ABLE TO TELL WHERE MY PACKAGE WENT", well shit why'd'n'cha tell me that up front! (silly me, here I thought PRIORITY MAIL meant something) I pay the 40 cents now......, live and learn. Mike |

Mike I agree with doctorhumbert, USPS delivery confirmation(while worth the $0.40) is really no good for tracking a package. When they lost my package, the only thing that the confirmation # could tell me was that my package was actually dropped off at the post office, nothing more. It's really only good for proving that your package did or did not arrive at the intended destination. The one good thing about Fed-ex and UPS is that you can actually use the tracking number to see whether the package is on a truck somewhere, or sitting at the local office. On a side note, when I lost my package through USPS, it was around Christmas time. I have since learned to avoid sending anything valuable or urgent via USPS during the holidays. Not sure if UPS or Fed-ex are any better though. |

Regardless of WHAT you ship, WHO you ship to, HOW FAST it has to get there, and WHAT THE CONSEQUENCES ARE for delivery not happening....NEVER, NEVER, NEVER...did I mention NEVER?, ship anything w/o some sort of confirmation option...PERIOD. Also, ALWAYS INSURE. Like poated above, all companies screw up now and agin. |

Just Insure everything....if they lose it they pay...and its cheap too! Sure, there is $1000 M.O. in mail that I thought that was lost. It was a refund for something that was returned. After waiting 7 days, receiver started to threaten me with an immediate refund or he would press charges against me. Now I don't have a money pit where I can come up with another $1000. So I contact USPS, and they tell me it will take them up to 30 days to investigate lost mail, and I have to wait 30 days after the purchase of M.O. to even ask for a cancellation/refund. Imagine what would have happened when that mail was actually lost? USPS lost their trust with me by deceiving me to believe that their mail will actually take 2-3 days. One mistake? Sure, it's acceptable, as shit happens. But 3 6-10 delays in two weeks? |
| KA3B: Ditto on the USPS priority mail, save yourself the extra $1 and just use regular 1st class. I think USPS Priority Mail actually moves slower during the holidays, I don't why but it does. A few years ago, my wife mailed to me a package in Dallax TX from L.A., it took 7 fcking working days to get their, and I ended making apology to the wife. My 1st class Christmas cards took 3 days to arrive. |

Quoted: It takes longer to send stuff via USPS at Christmas time because they have to open all those greeting cards to check for cash and tear open all those packages to see if there is anything they need in there. |

FWIW, Delivery Confirmation is free if you print your label online. You can pay for the postage on the web site, too. If you're mailing something "big", you still need to get it hand-stamped, or they'll return it to you. "Big" is supposed to be over 1lb, but I've had a tiny 6oz package returned because I didn't get it round-dated at the counter. In general, USPS blows. I don't have room to recount all the problems I've had. I only send cheap, unimportant things through them. Fedex generally sucks, too. I've had enough problems with them that I don't give them business anymore. I've only had one significant problem with UPS, and they went out of their way to make it right immediately! That's a lot more than I can say for USPS & FedEx. |

I've shipped over a thousand orders to folks with 90% of those being done via USPS Priority Mail and have had one package not make it there. Anything over 13oz can't go first class, so you're usually bumped up to Priority Mail, but you can also do Parcel Post which is really slow. Priority Mail was slower than usual over the holidays, but seeing that they handled 3.4 billion cards & letters, not including packages and business mail, they did a damned good job. The following is a sampling of my orders that were shipped on Dec. 15th from CA. Your item was delivered at 1:11 pm on December 22, 2003 in WORLAND, WY 82401 Your item was delivered at 12:29 pm on December 17, 2003 in ANDERSON, IN 46017. Your item was delivered at 11:12 am on December 17, 2003 in LATONIA, KY 41015. Your item was delivered at 3:22 pm on December 19, 2003 in NEW YORK, NY 10016. Your item was delivered at 1:38 pm on December 17, 2003 in KANSAS CITY, MO 64118. Your item was delivered at 10:46 am on December 18, 2003 in TALLAHASSEE, FL 32303. Your item was delivered at 1:58 pm on December 17, 2003 in GARDEN GROVE, CA 92845. Your item was delivered at 2:07 pm on December 17, 2003 in GRANDVILLE, MI 49418. They did a pretty good job in keeping with the 2-3 day Priority Mail delivery schedule even during the busiest time of the year. Definitely get delivery confirmation. It's saved my ass a few times from people that say they never received their stuff. When I check and see that it's been delivered, I usually hear back that the found their package with a neighbor, front gate of their gated community, front desk of their office, etc. |

USPS is always slow around the holidays. UPS just sucks..period. I mostly use Fed Ex. Never had a package lost and use their tracking. I think the Ebay person should not have given you a negative unless you never responded to any of his emails. Sorry you have had bad luck. |

I've sent over 30+ packages via USPS Priority in the last two months to places throughout the States, to include right in the middle of Christmas week, and haven't had a single problem. All but one arrived to their destination within two to three days, the odd one out took six days. You have to "purchase" tracking for Priority packages, either Delivery Confirmation or Signature Confirmation. Delivery Confirmation ($.40) will give you the acceptance and delivery of your package, Signature Confirmation ($1.80) will add to that the name of the person signing for it. If you need further details, like I needed one time, the Postmaster can run your tracking number through the USPS Intranet, which will give you further details about your package. Any further info needed, and he/she or you can call the Postmaster for that particular Post Office that was the last Post Office stop for your package. Insuring your package will NOT give you tracking. I went round and round with the post office employees about this, finally proving it to them and their boss by printing out the results of entering the Insured label numbers - "Tracking not purchased for this item". USPS has been good for me, and I hope I didn't just jinx myself! Chris |
