I went and tried this (the hammer and skin thing), and it doesn't feel good.

If I'm not mistaken, when Lee Harvey Oswald was captured at the Texas Theatre in Oak Cliff by the Dallas Police, he pulled his .38 Special during the struggle and attempted to fire it, but one of the arresting officers had his thumb between the hammer and the frame, causing it not to fire.

In general, on a revolver being fired by a double action pull on the trigger, if someone grabs the frame and cylinder with sufficient force to keep it from rotating, the gun will not fire.
