Posted about leaving my TC omega stainless barrel smoke stick un-cleaned for a year. Will see later if it's totally screwed after soaking for a few days.
I wouldn't mind buying a new muzzleloader anyway so thought I'd ask y'all. Going to use 777 pellets, Remington kleenbore primers since I already have em. Thumbhole stock preffered. Whatcha got, what should I buy? |

Rem 700 MZ, send it to Luke at arrowhead sports and have him do a smokeless conversion. You will never need another mz!
ETA, that link posted above is for the newest version of remingtons mz. For the same money that one costs, you can pick up one of the old original 700 mzs, (200 bucks or so) send it to luke for a pacnor stainless 45 bbl, a new bolt nose, new breechplug to the tune of 800 bucks or so and have a hell of a lot better gun than you can buy anywhere! |

Hard to beat TC Muzzle loaders. Ditch the pellets and those primers however. Go with Blackhorn 209 and CCI209M primers. You'll thank me later.
With the pellets you get a couple of shots with out being able to get a round down the barrel. With BH209 I can shoot all day and not have to swab between shots with out a loss of accuracy. Plus you can tune loads a lot better with lose powder. J- |
| Look at Thompson Center, CVA, or Traditions depending on budget and features you are looking for. Thompson Center has a new hammerless muzzleloader that is a good looking rifle. Pick up some Blackhorn 209 powder and CCI 209 Magnum or Federal 209A primers depending on what your gun likes. Blackhorn is a lot easier to clean up than Triple Seven. |

I use a traditions northwest model, I loved that thing.
No scope/exposed primers required in WA, etc I use 777 (loose powder) and have never had a misfire outside of the range where I was shooting dozens of lead balls and not doing any cleaning. ETA: I also have not tried bh209 because we can't use 209 primers here for ml season. I use musket caps. Nothing too modern, which is kind of the way it should be. |

I have a NEF muzzle loader barrel for my old single shot shot gun.
I ditched the stupid original cap holder setup and put an aftermarket breech plug in, I also got an aft market ramrod. The think shoots great, is easy to clean and only cost me $50. It's too bad they don't make them anymore. |

Yep, the Encore feels pretty good. I have the older Pre-Pro Hunter version. I found the powder measure/loader I'll link below to be just fine for measuring and loading. Just tap it a couple of times to settle the powder. I wasn't near max loads, as around 110 - 120 grains was plenty of punch with nice accuracy with Powerbelt bullets. However, you have the potential for much better accuracy and once your load is dialed in it's easy to premeasure some loads from the comfort of your bench. |
