The Elixer of the Celtic Gods.
Yea or Nay? And you Nay's can go fornicate yourselves. |

I don't know if it is verifiable, but at one time I read that a multivitamin, glass of milk, and "enough" pints of Guinness would equal a full day's nutritional needs

Man, I haven't had a great Guinness in a good while. Which is better, the bottled or the cans with the widget? Nitrogenated bottles are at bests better than no Guinness. Non-nitogenated bottles, cans, or draft is a bag of dicks. Extra stout? Drink whipped cream and Everclear shots |

I was raised on Black and Tans! - 5 points for whoever can tell me the band. Big fan of Guinness, Black and Tans, and Black and Blues when feeling frisky. |

About 15 years ago I was in Dublin for 5 days. Was with 2 other local coworkers.
Finished work by noon one day and we decided to hit the Guinness brewery. Our hotel was about a mile away and we took a taxi to get there. The tour was great and I was surprised at the number of their brewery's worldwide. Finished the tour with a pint of Guinness, was amazed at the fresh taste, nothing like in the US. We wanted more Guinness and headed to a pub a few blocks away. Had one pint and then on to the next pub. By the time we made it back to the hotel I had drank about a gallon of Guinness. Dinner at the hotel and finished it off with a large quantity of Irish whiskey. Was out and asleep by 8pm, small hangover the next morning. One of the best days of my life.  |

Let's see if anyone recognizes this.

It's like the Bud Light of stouts, I don't really care for it. Deschutes Obsidian stout is my go to, or Old Rasputin if I want something heavier. Guinness is what I call "MRE beer." The stuff you drink when no other stout is available. And the current trend of "hoppy" stouts makes many of them unavailable. And yeah, Deschutes is great. My current daily drinker. I alternate between Deschutes, Thirsty Dog Siberian Nights, and Old Rasputin. New Holland Brewery makes a Dragon's milk (bourbon barrel stout) that's simply amazing, if expensive, and for seasonal, Brooklyn Brewery makes a Black Chocolate Stout that will curl the toenails, it's so good. It's usually an Oct-Mar brew, so I buy it in twos--one to put in the "drink this week" place, and one in the basement to stockpile for the summer. |
