The Elixer of the Celtic Gods.

Yea or Nay?

And you Nay's can go fornicate yourselves.

With a name like Hogan I am obligated to say, Yea. Plus it really is the best and has been my choice for nigh on 20 years now.

I agree.

I prefer Murphy's, but both are very enjoyable stouts.

I'm not a beer drinker but I do enjoy a Guinness now and then.

It's at it's absolute best in Dublin. It doesn't travel well.

It's still one of my top three "go to" beers.  The other two rotate in and out.  Guinness is always among those three.

Guinness is the shit. Tastes better in Ireland, though.
8/16/2017 8:29:12 PM EDT

It's pretty bueno.  I've been known to have one or five from time to time.

Guinness is delicious. So, yes.

I'm more of a lager/Pilsner kind of guy, so HARP has always been a favorite Irish beer.

One of the few real beers!

Lite (light) beer is merely beer flavored water!

Yup

Love a pint of the black

Does that make me a racist?

It's great.   But I prefer their other label

If I want a watered down stout I'd rather have a Samuel Smiths.

Big fan of Guinness, Black and Tans, and Black and Blues when feeling frisky.

FIFY.

Murphy's is great too.

I had a stout in a craft brewery in Scotland that put them all to shame. No idea as to the name, but it was like drinking warm chocolate-covered 30-year old Suzanne Pleshette.

I know I just dated myself, but I fell head-over-heels for a woman who was her spitting image.

They're not for me.  I like just about everything else aside from stouts and IPAs.

I don't know if it is verifiable, but at one time I read that a multivitamin, glass of milk, and "enough" pints of Guinness would equal a full day's nutritional needs

It is, but only if you get the stuff brewed in Dublin.  The Canuckistani shit doesn't compare.

Nitrogenated cans are closest to nitrogenated draft.

Nitrogenated bottles are at bests better than no Guinness.

Non-nitogenated bottles, cans, or draft is a bag of dicks.

Extra stout? Drink whipped cream and Everclear shots

I have to chug it. Not a fan of any alcohol's taste, but I enjoy the impact. Irish car bombs are a good way to take it in.

Ahh yes....Black and Tans. The beverage of choice at Stuart Andersen's Black Angus restaurant. Oh yeah, it uses Bass ale and Guiness Stout

It's like the Bud Light of stouts, I don't really care for it. Deschutes Obsidian stout is my go to, or Old Rasputin if I want something heavier.

About 15 years ago I was in Dublin for 5 days. Was with 2 other local coworkers.
Finished work by noon one day and we decided to hit the Guinness brewery.

Our hotel was about a mile away and we took a taxi to get there.
The tour was great and I was surprised at the number of their brewery's worldwide.
Finished the tour with a pint of Guinness, was amazed at the fresh taste, nothing like in the US.

We wanted more Guinness and headed to a pub a few blocks away.
Had one pint and then on to the next pub.
By the time we made it back to the hotel I had drank about a gallon of Guinness.

Dinner at the hotel and finished it off with a large quantity of Irish whiskey.
Was out and asleep by 8pm, small hangover the next morning.

One of the best days of my life.

Yea

I can drink it,

make a fantastic fish and chips with it,

make a lamb stew with it that will make all other foods taste like sawdust.....

Guiness is all things to real men.

IPA's for the rest.

GET OUT OF MY HEAD.

Guinness is what I call "MRE beer."  The stuff you drink when no other stout is available.  And the current trend of "hoppy" stouts makes many of them unavailable.

And yeah, Deschutes is great. My current daily drinker.

I alternate between Deschutes, Thirsty Dog Siberian Nights, and Old Rasputin.

New Holland Brewery makes a Dragon's milk (bourbon barrel stout) that's simply amazing, if expensive, and for seasonal, Brooklyn Brewery makes a Black Chocolate Stout that will curl the toenails, it's so good.  It's usually an Oct-Mar brew, so I buy it in twos--one to put in the "drink this week" place, and one in the basement to stockpile for the summer.
