Was Christ a SJW?

Let me ask you a more pointed question............what does this passage mean?

Do not think that I came to bring peace on the earth; I did not come to bring peace, but a sword. – Matthew 10:34

It to me speaks of standing your ground in your religious belief regardless of who opposes it. But that's because I know the context. As the next sentence 10:35 reads. For I  have come to turn 'a man against his father, a daughter against her mother, a daughter-in-law against her mother-in-law--

I'm not sure what the above has to do with the topic RDak but I'll ask a more pointed one myself.

What about Christ preaching for the wealthy to give it all away, the many parables teaching to share what you have and look after one another?

Leviticus 19:13 ESV
“You shall not oppress your neighbor or rob him."

2 Thessalonians 3:10 ESV
"For even when we were with you, we would give you this command: If anyone is not willing to work, let him not eat."

1 Thessalonians 4:11 ESV
"And to aspire to live quietly, and to mind your own affairs, and to work with your hands, as we instructed you"

Galatians 6:4-5 ESV
"But let each one test his own work, and then his reason to boast will be in himself alone and not in his neighbor. For each will have to bear his own load."

Proverbs 14:23 ESV
"In all toil there is profit, but mere talk tends only to poverty."

Proverbs 22:7 ESV
"The rich rules over the poor, and the borrower is the slave of the lender."

Proverbs 20:4 ESV
"The sluggard does not plow in the autumn; he will seek at harvest and have nothing."

Proverbs 10:4 ESV
"A slack hand causes poverty, but the hand of the diligent makes rich."

Proverbs 22:29 ESV
"Do you see a man skillful in his work? He will stand before kings; he will not stand before obscure men."

Pretty clear not FSA to me.   It's about being good to others, not about giving them everything so that they do not have to work for it.... It's all about helping those that are unable to help themselves.

Christ is about love.  SJWs are about intolerance of others.

Not in the way we mean, when we say SJW. Not by a long shot.

Didn't he make his own whip?  To ya know, whip people.

Also slavery,  what did Jesus have to say on that subject?

The Jews expected their Messiah to kick the Romans asses out of the Middle East.
Modern spin puts a more spiritual meaning to the verse.

I ask the question as I'm seeing a lot of B.S. on FB about how Christ was a SJW.

Now the left is going as far as to try to warp their SJW crusade into being a thing they think Christ would have approved of and trying to convince others.

*sigh* folks by the time we're ready to take up arms their may not be much left. at least that's how it feels.

The flaw in your reasoning is that he asked that of the individual as a lesson to reject material things in favor of the spiritual enlightenment he was offering; he didn't say "have the poor petition Caesar to take the rich's wealth, and give it to us."

Jesus Christ is the embodiment of the Lord Most High, the physical (as we "understand") incarnation of the Triune God, holy, perfect, without blame, my Savior and King.

Try to compare capturing Niagara Falls in a thimble to see the perspective of allowing the majesty of Him to be born of a virgin.

The Great I Am.

Abba.

And as close as you want him to be.

Ah that made me laugh. What worries me is that theyre trying to portray Christ in a twisted way...and gaining some traction.

Here is the best verse from the bible.

Genesis 1:29 - And God said, Behold, I have given you every herb bearing seed, which [is] upon the face of all the earth, and every tree, in the which [is] the fruit of a tree yielding seed; to you it shall be for meat.

He preached that men should VOLUNTARILY take care of their fellow man. Not that we should compel our neighbor through threat of force to take care of his fellow man. So no.

Are you asking because you know the answer already or are you asking because you don't know?

Jesus walked the earth in Israel during Roman occupation. The Romans controlled and taxed the Jewish people in Israel. There was inequity, taxation without representation, and slaves (as in people who owed someone else a debt and became indentured servants to the person they owed money.)
The answer is no. He didn't make the Israeli people rise up and protest against Rome at any time.

Pretty much, yeah.

King David is the most badass dude in the bible. He killed so many dudes and spilled a shitload of blood for God. Then God was like "damn dude, that's metal as fuck. You're a man after my own heart."

Jesus was not as cool.

To answer the question of someone above, no Christ was not a SJW. If you did what he taught there was no need for any of that shit because those problems went away.

But the people had to choose to follow his teachings he wasntbtrying to force it. Listen don't listen your choice.

When Matthew was written, the Jews were most definitely not expecting Jesus to kick the Romans out of the Middle East. If you believe Matthew accurately captures Jesus's words, then Jesus was definitely  not referring to that either since he knew he wasn't long for the world nor was he returning to restore his kingdom anytime soon.

He did march into the temple and chase everybody selling stuff out with a whip and tossed the money changers stuff everywhere. John 2:13-17. He did it openly and purposefully.

Jesus was as radical then as he is now. Few indeed meet the challenges he has issued to us. Who Jesus was, and what he told us to do has been written down in plain language for anyone to read.

From Luke Chapter 6:

27 “But to you who are listening I say: Love your enemies, do good to those who hate you, 28 bless those who curse you, pray for those who mistreat you. 29 If someone slaps you on one cheek, turn to them the other also. If someone takes your coat, do not withhold your shirt from them. 30 Give to everyone who asks you, and if anyone takes what belongs to you, do not demand it back. 31 Do to others as you would have them do to you.

32 “If you love those who love you, what credit is that to you? Even sinners love those who love them. 33 And if you do good to those who are good to you, what credit is that to you? Even sinners do that. 34 And if you lend to those from whom you expect repayment, what credit is that to you? Even sinners lend to sinners, expecting to be repaid in full. 35 But love your enemies, do good to them, and lend to them without expecting to get anything back. Then your reward will be great, and you will be children of the Most High, because he is kind to the ungrateful and wicked. 36 Be merciful, just as your Father is merciful.

37 “Do not judge, and you will not be judged. Do not condemn, and you will not be condemned. Forgive, and you will be forgiven. 38 Give, and it will be given to you. A good measure, pressed down, shaken together and running over, will be poured into your lap. For with the measure you use, it will be measured to you.”
