I am told by someone in the shooting industry that the passing of the Hearing Protection Act is a given and it's implementation would be announced soon. My source claimed they heard this from someone in BATF leadership. Retroactive to October 2015 purchasers would be refunded their $200 tax stamp. Going forward suppressors would be treated as firearms and you will buy them from an FFL.
If the above is true I am thinking prices are going to skyrocket in the short term and stock will be sold out quickly. In the long term I think it will mean lots more companies getting into this business sector and long term more innovation, lower prices, and more stock available. I think my source is fairly reliable. I am on the fence about buying existing stock now in anticipation of skyrocketing prices as I really need/want a 7.62 can or waiting until prices drop, likely in two years or so. So, 'if' my source is correct and the Hearing Protection Act is passed/announced in the next 60-90 days, what is going to happen to the market? |

Let us assume that my source is correct. What happens to the market? I do not believe in $50 cans with the FFL requirement. But half or more of what they are today; oh yes, I believe! But how long until we get there? I was thinking 2 years for increase in supply the meet demand. |
