Son's tv went out. Need to replace with one that allows him the play his online video games. Which TV should I look at? I am think about the new curve ones.

Curved screens are/were a fad just like the 3-D TVs were a few years ago. Just get a fast refresh rate, flat screen 4K model with HDMI inputs within the price range you feel comfortable with.
