Many moons ago a guy a few rows over named Jack Rogers had one with a Cripes A' Mighty paint scheme.
(He also had a few Sea Fury's. They were awesome airplanes too. Some day I'll tell you the story of when they did a run up (like a fast taxi down the runway) of one of them and forgot to put the pins in the folding wings. True story.) It was an uncontrolled airport that was a bit out in the boonies, so there were a few low passes in the P-51. We would walk out and stand right at the side of the runway. The sound and fury of that airplane at full song 25 feet off the deck was something I'll never forget. |
