Since I live under a rock, I was caught pretty flatfooted by Photobucket's demise/self-destruction - like most everyone else. Now, like everyone else, I decided to forgo the usage of photobucket rather than pay the $400 fee, and am endeavoring to close my account. So, for many days, like everyone else, I have been trying to download my albums to retrieve my content, and I am down to ~300 or so pictures in 3 albums that I still want - and therein lies the problem. For 2 days now, I log in, I select the album I want, click download album, and then things get weird. 2 days ago, it would run me through a captcha picking pictures of cars or signs, then give me a download button. Now I get endless captcha on firefox, and never a download link. On Chrome/Edge, it only makes me check the box (no pictures) but clicking on the download link does nothing. I have tried at off peak times, and and during the day. I don't get any error, its just that nothing happens. Occasionally I get to the actual download dialog (interacting with the video won't...) and I used to be able to click close, and shortly an email would show up in my inbox allowing me a download. now, nothing happens regardless of what I do.
So, without trying to rehash any of the existing photobucket extortion discussion, I was hoping someone on here might be able to help me out, #1 figuring out what is going on, and #2 with a suggestion of a replacement that mimic's the functionality. Most of the threads I have read so far mention EVERY other photo hosting service without really comparing or contrasting the features. I don't really need to do anything but host and link, no editing, nothing else. I also don't need any video/GIF support. Help? |
| I ended up having to do a copy function on Photobrokit and paste function to a picture file folder in Win 7 for each of the pics I wanted to save. It was time consuming, but got the job done. I now use POST IMAGE for picture hosting. Its still free and fairly easy to use. |
