Took a trip yesterday to pick up a tractor and finish mower. As we're getting ready load, I sense movement on the mower and turn to see a huge rat staring me down. Almost bladed at 45 and draw on it. It ran away.
We get everything loaded, making a final check of the chains. Dad spots another rat poking its head out of the mower belt cover. I grabbed a yard stick and he got a can of carb cleaner out of my toolbox. He sprayed on one side and I shoved the yard stick under the cover. Rat popped out and went under the tractor. A couple of good swipes with the yard stick and I managed to make my first Georgia big game kill. Attached File Attached File |
I unintentionally ran over one earlier this week. Guts came out. The next day it stunk so I buried it in a shallow grave. The third day I walked by the grave and noticed there was a pile of fur. Something dug it up and ate it.
Did find two baby rats and I dispatched them. They're in my burn barrel now and I'm waiting for a fire permit so I can send them to rat Valhalla. |

What's the story behind that tractor? Air cooled 4 cylinder diesel. Approx 50 PTO HP. We had a 562 for about 20 years. Crude Russian build & design. Somewhat reminiscent of older Internationals. Sold it when we lost most of our leased hay ground. |
