I'm so sorry. But your father died quickly.
My dad died a long lingering death from cancer and I will never understand how he could suffer so badly for so long. At least your father didn't suffer and try to take some comfort in that. Your father had a family that loved him and he leaves behind a good legacy. Try to take comfort in that too. |

Darn. I was just thinking of buying a fishing boat and now you have told me this scary story of drowning.
Hope you are doing better. You will start to move on and you'll never forget him and only remember the good times. Sorry you had to hear about the bad news but it wont last forever. |

Sorry to hear this, it is tough, I lost Dad about a year and a half ago, unfortunately, I knew it was coming and I talked with him the day before it happened.
I lost Mom 15 years ago, next month and there are times I feel lost, but it does get better. You have my deepest thoughts and condolences. |

The hurt is terrible, and the loss leaves a hole in your heart, but it all heals in time.
Remembering the good times and all that he taught you, bled for you, sacrificed for you and guided you will help to heal that. Sounds like you had a wonderful dad. I am sorry for your loss. |

I appreciate all of the kind words.
You guys are right, he died doing something he loved. As a matter of fact, if you asked him to plan the last week of his life, he probably would have drawn up exactly what happened. My 4 year old spent 3 days at my parent's house last week, then they came to our house last weekend to celebrate the holiday. We did some projects, grilled some food and had a lot of good times. He fell asleep on my couch with his granddaughter under one arm and my pup under the other. My parents came home and celebrated the 4th with the rest of the family where he got to grill and make homemade ice cream. Then he spent a day with my mom, a day napping and part of today with his best friend in his favorite fishing spot. Was it too soon? It sure feels like it, but I know there are a lot worse ways to go. He worked hard his entire life and I'm glad he was able to cram more living in to a few years of retirement then he did all those years of working. |
