Bought a Coleman CT200u on clearance at wal-mart for $99.  Had some minor issues and I haggled that price down to $49.  I threw in a $65 torque converter and painted it green. That's it.  I topped it out at 44mph with a 196cc 6.5hp engine.  I put it on Craigslist the weekend before the 4th of July almost as a joke with an asking price of $850.  A couple of kids in their early 20's came over that night and gave me $800 for it.  I pocketed about $680.

Saw this smaller one yesterday with a $700 asking price that had been sitting on CL for over 30 days and scored it plus pretty much every part to build another bike except for a frame and motor.  All for $400!

It has a highly modded predator ($99) with billet internals ($100), hopped up cam ($75), billet flywheel ($120), aftermarket intake/exhaust/carb($150), racing clutch $75, hour meter, hydraulic rear disc brake($50), top plate and custom under seat gas tank. It's mint with just over 2 hours. He also threw in enough parts to build an entire bike minus the frame and motor, as well as 6 sets of wheels with new tires on them($400).  Build time he estimated was about 20 hours as well.

Guy used to professionally build these, now does custom high dollar +$4,000 survival type mountain bikes with engines on them.  Not a thing wrong with this bike other than he doesn't have time to ride and it and the parts were taking up too much space in his garage/shop with about 20 mountain bikes in some process of being assembled.

Topped it out at 50mph with more throttle to go but no more street.  I need to find a bigger flat and I'm pretty sure with my 215lbs and 10lbs of gear it should hit 55, maybe even 60.  50 felt like 100 though.

Am I imagining things or are you duping yourself?

We never had kickstands back in the day.  Never had c-clamps either. Used duct tape

You did better than a young me. It did bring back some fond childhood memories, so thanks for that.
My dad and I cobbled this together with junkyard parts and a crappy lawn mower engine. If it would have gone 50mph I'd of killed myself.

Haha! Yup, you can see where dad welded the forks back on. Guess he didn't pay too much attention to the rake/performance issue. That frame was in the junkyard for a reason.

Pic was taken during the winter, so I think I'm wearing shorts over a pair of pants. Looks hideous and ridiculous at the same time don't it.
I didn't even notice that when I dug the pic up to post. Good times.
