Just an e reader? Kindle paperwhite.

Kindle Voyage is probably best choice if you want a solid reader.

Kindle paperwhite, best bang for the buck.  Put it in a Fintie case found on Amazon, good case good price.

Can't you just get an app for your phone?

Kindle Paperwhite. No problems reading a book outside in the sun or in the dark. I have the one with cell connection.

For any serious amount of reading, E-Ink is way better.

Plus, they have killer battery life's and are usually pretty compact. Back when I had a desk job it was great always having a library to read through at lunch.

Whatever Kindle matches your price point. My girlfriend reads my Voyage and I still read my Kindle Keyboard. If I were to choose one today it would still be the Voyage.

I read on my phone when I'm waiting in line somewhere or just killing a little time when I don't have my eInk device. When I sit down to read it has to be real paper or an eInk device.

Cheap 8" android tablet from micro center.

Good for movies and comic books too.

In an unbelievable turn of events on arfcom GD, virtually everyone loves the Kindle Paperwhite!

I read on my phone and on my Kindle fire (which is really just a cheap tablet) and it never bothered me.  I will admit it's not great for reading in direct sunlight, though.  Might want to go with the Paperwhite if that's your situation.

It bothers enough people to have an entirely different product line just for reading so there's that.

Kindle Paperwhite.

As stated above, it's the only product I've ever seen that is ARFCOM GD approved.

I have read on LCD screens, I even have a Nook Color from the early days of E-readers... I kept my old Kindle Keyboard as a backup* rather than read on the other devices.

*-The Amazing battery life has it's drawbacks... since you almost never have to charge the thing, you never charge the thing.

Kindle fire, I use an 8 in fire hd now cause they had them on sale for $50 bucks at Christmas, my last one was a 7 in and it worked fine as well, I also have a 7 in android with a kindle app, that now gets used on my Mill DRO's and my wife is on her third 7in kindle, phones are way to small and I don't carry my phone most of the time, cause it don't work at the places I go.

Calibre is a pretty neat program if you want to load some epub files from other sources. I have an ordinary Kindle but I would spring for the paperwhite depending on how much you're planning on using it.

If you only want it for reading, go Kindle Paperwhite or the like. I still have my 3g keyboard model and would be using it had the battery still held a charge.

I opted for one of the black Friday Kindle Fire tablets and hate it. The battery life blows because it is a tablet, the screen sucks to read on, the OS blows because it's a modified Android, and it's slow as fuck. Every time I try to use it, I want to smash it.

This. Have had mine for a few years and it works great laying in bed when it's dark and on the deck of a cruise ship.

I've almost reached the point where I view an actual (pleasure reading type) book in much the same light as a VHS tape.

I prefer paper but was interested. Got turned off when I saw new titles of authors I like still wasn't cheap (Clive Cussler, don't judge me).

I was very skeptical of e-readers.  I loved my hardbacks.

Now I love my Kindle Fire.  Too much hassle to hold the large hardbacks, can't dim them for bedtime reading.  Shit, now I pretty much have to use some 1x reader glasses I got for cheap if I want to read small type.

I vote for the Fire or other tablet because I will use it to check the TV guide and IMDB while I am watching tv.

Paperwhite sounds good, but I enjoy the extra functionality of the tablet.

My Kindle has pretty much eliminated my need for a laptop or regular computer at home.  Only once in a great while do I miss the keyboard and mouse.  I love my Kindle.  All my books, sheet music, set lists, and web browsing all in a compact package that runs forever on a battery charge.

The only thing I'd change about it is maybe a larger display for when I'm using it while playing guitar.  My charts are just a wee bit on the smallish side some times.  I have a foot pedal that flips pages, which is a huge thing for a musician.

I have a Kindle Fire 8HD and read on it all the time with no issues. Also added Android APK's so I have access to Google apps.  For $69, it's a hard tablet to beat.
